Title: HO2S12 without cat!!! Post by OHC on Dec 7th, 2005, 6:15am Hello! I need a tech advise from site admins. Everybody’s opinion is also welcome. The cat on my 2.0 16V 1995 has died – it roars on 2000 rpm. The only option I have is to remove it. The prob is to cheat post-cat HO2S. Eric_R suggest supplying a small voltage to it, but it’s difficult for me. But I’ve read on the main site that catalyst monitor is performed only if EGR is complete. Since I have the EGR plugged due to the valve malfunction the monitor will not be complete and OBD won’t carry out catalyst monitor - and bingo! I can remove the cat without any problem. Any opinion welcome Best regards, Serguey |

Title: Re: HO2S12 without cat!!! Post by scorpio_man on Dec 7th, 2005, 9:20pm hi there you don't need to do anything to the lambda sensor(s)! :-/ you're only removing a bit between the sensors. in fact, if you did something to the sensors, the fueling would be all over the place! i've been running without a cat for over a year now (lpg) without any problem. :) |

Title: Re: HO2S12 without cat!!! Post by scorpio_man on Dec 8th, 2005, 7:05pm hi there if there is nothing wrong with the fuel system before removing the cat, then there won't be anything wrong afterwards. as i said, the car doesn't mind if the cat is there or not as long as the lambda sensors are working. |

Title: Re: HO2S12 without cat!!! Post by Octavian_P on Jan 8th, 2006, 7:45pm From what i learned from this forum is that the front lambda (the one before the CAT) is the real importatn one, the rear one is less important. I also want to take the cat out but just for higher performance. |
