Title: just idle
Post by Executive on Feb 10th, 2006, 4:23pm
Dear Colleagues

I have a general question:
What are the rules to calibrate the correct: TPS and the throttle bypass screw (fitted on the throttle body to give a basic air flow from before the throttle plates to behind during closed throttle plates)?

Why I am asking it?
Because, I have tested two different operation (both are cosworth), and I do not know which is the correct setting, and I do not know how can I make it.

First,
During a trip, when the gear is not in 1. I just start to stop the car because a traffic light, the idle goes down at 900, but during the gearchange to 1 the idle is rising up to 1100, then falling down to the normal level. It give me a feeling: I can not stop the car.

Second:
when I push the brake because a traffic light (same like first), the rp, falling down without any rising. I beleive, this is the correct operation.

Why the rpm rising, during a gearchange to 1, when i want to stop the car? always.

Do I have an air leakage? I have tested it so much time.
Should I set the throttle bypass screw? how?
Anything else?

This symhtoms have more cosworth here in hungary, but what is the reason?

hi there

NO! don't touch the screw! it's factory set. check the idle bypass valve. not sure where it is on the cosi, but can't be far from the thottle. clean it out with carb cleaner.

btw, you need to fix the lambda issue first. see if everything settles down after that.

Thx for your answers,
few more questions, pls...  ;D

- the screw fixed by a coat, what is the situation, when it is borken, means changed ...? is there any way to make a factory set again?
- is it adjusted for the throtthle body? or for the engine where fitted to?
- if I buy a new throtthle, does it have a factory default too?

Is there a "factory default" at idle: e.g. rpm is 725, iacvdc 50%, tps 17,6, maf 5.3 gm/s, etc. ?  ::)good questions I know.

Ah, one more, I have a lot of scan of my cossie, do anyone help to analize it, or give me some advise to get more details from my engine management works?

regards from Budapest: Ex.
