Title: Scan on Ultima 2.9 12v?
Post by Spannerdemon on May 10th, 2006, 12:01pm
Despite reading the information about OBD's on this site

http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/obd2a.htm

I'm a bit confused as to what information I can get from my own car (Ultima 2.9 12v).

Can somebody explain just what I need, and how I can then read and interpret the information. I understand from reading the site, that OBD2 isn't suitable for this model, is that correct?

Also what hardware/software do I need, if any is available.

Thanks in anticipation.  :)

So the Serial connector that I have in the coin tray is no use to me? The gunson tester mentions a three pin connection??

I've had a look for this Gunson tester without success.

Even more confused, but thanks for your efforts to help me. Maybe I'm just a silly old sod!!  ;D

YES you use the OBD connector in the coin try ... It is possible to build your own star tester and I do have a source of blank OBD plugs if you want ..... Star Code Reader (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/star.htm)

But I do understand that it is still pssible to use the diagnostic plug in the engine bay but cannot confim this . There is one on the nearside inner wing near the battery.
Blanks are obtainable from  HERE (http://www.skpang.co.uk/catalog/)

BIZZAY You cannot use that one on a 12v . The 12v 2.9 is NOT OBD ll Compliant ...

Looking at all the suggestions here, I think I'm going to leave well alone for the time being.

Car is running fine, and I have worries about disturbing for disturbing's sake if you get my meaning.

Thanks for all the advice. Fordcos, Thanks for your offer, but i live many miles from you, in sunny Torquay.
