Does Alex Pepper's lead work with the diesel at all or is it the star reader or nothing?

hi stuart

the very late ones might work. not sure.

If there is such a thing .....  ;D  Gunson do a star reader for the Scorpio so I understand, others on here use them but I never have.

I can tell you the early TD does not work with an OBD-II reader (I've tried).  The later 125PS one with MAF, etc. may work as I believe that uses the EEC-V but I could be wrong.

Darren

P.S.

Suprised snoopy hasn't used a star reader as his 2.9 12v doesn't support OBD-II either.  Mind you, I've never used a star reader either because I'm too tight to buy one and I never got around to making one...

Over on the FSOC, we were contacted by a man with some very useful information in relation to testing the Ford EEC IV , as all sierra EFI cars use the system like the 2.9 EFI.

Rather than relying on the useless flash test readers or ford star tester, this gent came up with his own solution :)

Have a look under FCR.

Im hoping to build one of these myself when I have the time.

I believe this is the same unit several of us are getting sorted - see the "give/need advice" forum - it's the top thread.

  ;)
My '98 2.5TD can get conectet with VE.
I use an old Tricom from 2003 with the actual [german language] version 1.46 .

It's a Bosch-EDC injection system with MAP/MAF sensors.

Is the best match I can find - something about wastegate problem on the turbo.

sorry, can't follow the link.   ???

But if you say something with the wastegate it sounds like a job to do. The power output is not perfect in last time...    :-/

search for psa eobd p codes in google - not the same engine but finding OBD codes for diesels isn't easy!

If it's correct for the VM2.5 then check for leaking, blocked or disconnected small pipes connecting the turbo and wastegate to the sensors and actuators.

maybee it was a temporarly blocked wastegate. Fact is it [the outside visible lever..]can be manually activated by vacuum. There are no stored codes today. But i cant watch under the hood in full load an full acelleration condition ;-) . The lever does not move under rev up and down in stand still of the car.

Anyway, thanks for the advice..!
