Title: OBD interface cable ?
Post by jg on Jul 12th, 2007, 2:49pm
I have a EML323 cable that I knows works with a SAAB 9000, with the software I have, BUT I cannot get it to work on the Scorpio.  Any ideas why ?

hi there

the scorpio uses pwm protocol (saab might be iso?).

do a search on the net for free ford software. it might work.

Yes SAAB is ISO, will do a search, thanks Mate.

It seems that there is a difference between PWM and ISO on the pin out.

PWM Protocol Pins

Pins 2, 5, 10 and 16 are populated.
Pin # Description
2 Data
5 Ground
10 Data
16 Power

ISO and KWP Protocol Pins

Pins 5, 7, 16 and, optionally, 15 are populated.
Pin # Description
5 Ground
7 Data
15 Data (this pin is optional and may not be present)
16 Power

If my cable is fully populated, maybe able to make a dongle to convert for PWM

There is also:-

VPW Protocol Pins

Pins 2, 5 and 16 are populated.
Pin # Description
2 Data
5 Ground
16 Power

&

 CAN Protocol Pins

Pins 5, 6, 14 and 16 are populated.
Pin # Description
5 Ground
6 Data
14 Data
16 Power
