Do I need a lap top to use alex peppers obd 2 lead or can I plug it into my pc (with a long enough lead)

Yep the pc will do just fine, you can either get a longer lead from Alex or run an extension out to the garage for the pc :)

Will I be able to read abs codes with it and how easy/hard is it to use the software

easy enough once you know how :)
It looks complicated to begin with (and it can be depending how far into the depths of it you want to go)
but you should be able to set up the program connect and be reading the codes in a couple of minutes.

I have the Trican lead which reads the ABS codes, I dont think the basic lead reads them

Can I get the trican lead from alex as I could do with reading abs codes as well

Yep, he does four different combinations
