Title: ELM 320
Post by wobbs on Nov 12th, 2007, 4:54pm
AS far as i am aware this interface should work with all fords PWM
I cannot get the Laptop and car to talk. (97 cosworth)
if i just plug in the interface (no ignition) i get one led lit
ignition 1&2 i get one led and 2 flashing led's

now i took the interface to my inlaws
and plugged it into a 99 mondeo
and got 2 led's lit (no ignition)
ignition on 1&2 i got 1 led on and 2 flashing

Also tried it on my 06 focus tdci (not compatable)

The ELM 320 as 3 led's and it is the serial port version with a usb adapter "prolific drivers installed"
but still wont connect using multiple software
is there a sequence? window up/down ash tray in/out etc.

Regards
Andy

Andy,

don't be too dissappointed, if you do not get very much support from here. Most of the OBD-2 interrogators here use Alex Pepper's leads.
If you understand German, you can try to get help from here: www.obd-2.de.

Armin

I've used the elm 320 serial, works fine.
plug it in, switch ignition on,
Should connect, if not check for a com port prob,
make sure if your using a usb  to serial adapter that the software is set for the right port, eg com2 an check the adaptor is set the same and not set itself to something like com7.
the two flashing leds means it's talking to the interface.

Hi Havinga,

You say check the software on the adapter
and also check the adapter

The only port settings i can configure are within the programme i'm using
and the port settings on the computer
am I missing something ???

OBD2 software
Scantool software
Vehicle explorer software
all software say ports are connected
but they will not connect

Looks like i may have to chase up a laptop with a serial port :(

Andy

Hi Andy,
I'm not familiar with the ELM320 however I'm assuming your port nos are the same. Sometimes when I start my OBD (Alex Pepper's) my PC prompts me to enter a different port no in order to connect. My PC has ports 1-6 (I think) and sometimes it'll run on no.6 or 3 or 4 then I'm in. Its nice when it prompts you - does yours do this or can you check the values?

Hi Paul

Vehicle explorer software prompts me to change port
so i change the port but it makes no difference,

OBD2 software has 5 ports to choose from but it tells me there's no connection on this port if i have the port settings wrong.

Scantool software has 8 ports to choose from
but this software says "can not find the interface"

Andy
