Hi everyone, just recieved my obd lead from US of A followede all advice from on here but all i get is busy signal tried with 3 different laptops all the same, at one stage while exiting i got the message General Protection fault in module obd2.exe 2E9A, any help gratefully recieved

what type of lead is it? pwm or better?

yes i entered password lead is pwm-iso scan tool

not sure about alex pepper but it says car code obd-2.com 129 N 4th St Saint charles MO 63301

hi there

that's the one. it was just when you said scan tool, that's a different company.

anyway, if it won't connect i'd think it was the settings.

try setting like these.....

go to options/gateway

filters page tick all boxes
protocol page tick all boxes except..send mode/initiate mode/CAN/default (sae ISO) ....speed set to 120

interface page both ports must be the same

if that doesn't work, try the lead just as a pwm lead.

one other thing, are you using a usb adapter?

Firstly, thanks Scorpio Man for your patience, evertime i try to connect all i get is busy signal i am using usb adaptor, it says connected rs232 port 4 which is correct

Yes its very infuriating (bl**dy computers)

BTW, what baud rate have you set in Options/Gateway/interface?

are you using the latest software from obd-2.com?

the last time i updated my software, it didn't work.

if you want a copy of the old software, send my an email and i'll send it to you.

good morning gentlkemen, i think i have to give up now, ive followed the excellent post by Pegasus, only thing there is i dont get the word Prolific in device manager, also many thanks to Scorpio_man for his help, im now running earlier version 152. Only thing left seems to be the lead?? Looking at connector wit wide bit at top pins are as follows

this is my settings with a pwm lead. you might have to click an iso box on some options.

You are diamond, i connected!!!! All i have to do now is learn how to use it!!! But seems no codes stored so that must be good?? i hope, anyway thanks Scorpio_man and everyone else who helped

Hi,
glad you've got it sorted. I tried mine today (its been a while) and I got that s*dding busy signal. After about 10 mins fiddling with the gateway parameters it connected.

I'm using the TriCom lead. If you want to see the screen shots of the settings (different from Andrew's) PM me your email and I'll send. They're not fine tuned yet but that's for another time.

Baud 57.6 is recommended for single PWM lead (and worked for me). TriCom defaults to 19.2, not sure about PWM/ISO combo.

I've stuck with version 1.44 of software to avoid latest glitches Andrew mentions.

I can't be sure but this happened to me when I 1st tried. I have a vague feeling the usb connector has to be in the PC/laptop before it appears (the cable doesn't have to be connected to anything). Anyone else remember this step??
