Title: Can I test sencors one at a time ???
Post by timduffy7 on Apr 20th, 2008, 6:37pm
Hi 1998 2.3
I have just got OBD Trican from Alex. Its all new to me as are computers. So I will have alot of silly questions, but all help greatfully received.
1st I downloaded OBD program and USD driver. I think I read on this site some where, I shouold also download Ford Enchanced software.? Should  I.
I got it up and running so was fairly happy. Went out today. Try as I may I just can't CONNECT. I'm ready to cry and spit my dummy out. Back to Pegasus write up. Oh look baud rate is at it's lowest setting. So put it back to 57,6  Bingo were connected. Thanks Pegasus. So shut pc down and started up again. Won't connect. Reset baud rate back to 57.6 and now connecting again.  Will I have to reset the baud rate each time I start the pc ?
There are no faults coming up, but I know the Co sensor is faulty. There are 4 wires on it, one is broken. I suspect it must be heater wire as the car runs fine even when cold. Maybe broken heater just isnt ditected??
Thanks in advance  Tim

Hi Tim,
I think 19.2 baud rate is the default for the TriCan (it is for TriCom) so may have to reset each time - but there must be something else that needs to be done if you're not connecting - perhaps someone else with Trican will advise.

On the sensor - have you tried running the Enhanced codes - there's about 130ish that the Scorp will return info on but you'll need to know what the 'correct' response should be (provided its detected) - its a case of try and see what comes up.

Thanks Paul
Slowly getting the hang of it.  Startup routine seems to be,
Start laptop----connect lead----start USB driver----start VE--- SET BAUD RATE---- THEN CONNECT.
Slowly finding my way around. Could anyone tell me a simple way of bringing up a fault code. I have tryed disconnecting the  Intake air temp sensor, then the tube from the pressure difference sensor, neither brought up a fault code???. I was sitting at tickover when I tried these, and may not have waited long enough.
Thanks   Tim
