Title: Scanning ISO protocols Post by Pegasus on May 7th, 2008, 10:07pm Anyone managed to scan cars based on the ISO protocol (European, Asian, etc). Been trying to scan (with a TriCom lead) a 2003 BMW 530d but keep getting the "busy" & ""no connection" signals. I think the set ups ok as followed Alex P's instruction pages but feel I must be missing something ??? I've got no problem connecting to the Scorp. Any ideas, anyone? Cheers Paul |

Title: Re: Scanning ISO protocols Post by TiberiuS on May 15th, 2008, 1:11am Hi Paul. Not familiar with the TriCom but have you tried altering the baud rate and auto detect/timeout settings? Had some issues with my Elmscan connecting to different cars but changing the timeout and baud sorted it. Regards, Bruce. |

Title: Re: Scanning ISO protocols Post by Pegasus on May 15th, 2008, 10:21pm Hi Bruce, yep tried all that - in fact the baud rate for Tricom appears fixed (at 19.2) Next time I might try telling the program I only have an ISO lead and/or slowing the FIFO buffers on the COM port (ISO protocol runs a lot slower than other protocols such as PWM). When I get the chance I'll feedback - depends how quickly my brother wants it checked - main dealer only wanted £155 just to connect so I reckon I'll be ok for a few beers Cheers Paul |

Title: Re: Scanning ISO protocols Post by Pegasus on Aug 12th, 2008, 9:41pm Got the answer to the connection failure. Brother called AA to sought out partner's car then asked him to try to connect to his BMW. It failed, even though AA man knows it works with BMWs. Fault lies with the connector (or somewhere) on the car. Sounds similar to Daven's connection problem on his Scorp. |
