I have recently acquired some obd2 hardware, and though i would try it out today.
I have tried a couple of different programs and a some of them say that i dont have a obd2 and on the rest it cant connect.
(modiag=no obd2 system scanmaster=cant connect to ecu
carcode =no connection)
I have a nov 96 scorpio 2.3 .
It has a obd2 system right?
Have to ask so i am not working in vain. :)

It is probably something easy but what :)

What lead are you using? May help someone to help you.

Some 2.3's are troublesome to connect to.

If it connects via a computer make sure it's configured to the correct port.

obd-diag 4000 kable, and the program that follows is modiag, and i have tried car diagnostic 2009( nice program) but both of them cant connect.
I have the right com port ( 3) and have the right baud.
As i said before it is probably something easy but what .
Is there any common problem with the obd port in the 2.3 or something i can physicaly check?

My car’s a 2.3 & I have no problem connecting with a tricom from www.obd-2.com

Several on here have connected to 2.3’s & I have connected to others at the Kent meet, but some 2.3’s just don’t want to know – I was unable to connect to Daven’s 2.3 but whether he ever succeeded with his lead I don’t know.

I am not aware of anyone finding out what the problem is or whether there are a significant number of troublesome 2.3’s.

You problem is likely to be finding someone on here with your setup who can give advise.

Can anyone tell me how many vires it should be in the obd2 in scorpio?
I took a look behind the obd contact and found a white wire that was loose, and i dont know if it is a dead wire or one that should be in the obd contact...

I have taken 2 photos one from the front and one from the rear of the contact

You could look through the wiring diagrams in the news section.
At the bottom of the Diagnostic DLC pins pdf is a table of the wires - but I can’t see a white wire:

although the article is for the earlier obd version the table shows the connections used by the Alex Peper lead (the lead from http://www.obd-2.com ).

the wire colors match ( except that i have purple wires insted of white in pos 1 and 2)
all wires in place, and still not any connection :'(

Your colours are probably right.
Pin 1 VT = Violet
Pin 2 GY/VT = Grey/Violet

Tried to connect to my fathers passat 98 tdi, and it worked like a charm :)
(vag.com)
But not on my scorpio :(
