Hi all,

I finnally got an OBD2 Code Reader and attached it to my 1997 Cossie and got the following Fault Codes:-

1, P0161 - Sensor Heater Circut Malfunction (Bank 2 - Sensor 2)

2, P0171 - System to Lean (Bank 1)

3, P0174 - System to Lean (Bank 2)

I would be very grateful if someone could come to my rescue as I presume that there is more to the faults than just faulty sensors.

Therefore, could I ask for some help in trying to correct/replace the sensors and/or correct the underlying faults, please ???

Well, what you could do is to monitor O2 sensor values. Even the free scantool.net has this featue. If they're dead, or have poor connections that's atleast a start. Lambda sensors should actually last only for 60K, and the front ones may e.g. switch badly.

There are several cheap front sensors (straight fit, with extra long lead) available on ebay. Rears are monitors only, and should not make a difference (P0161 in your case).

Thanks guys for the help you are giving me,

I am getting to know (with all your help) how to carry out the diagnostic checks that the OBD2 'faults threw up?

So I am going to check the leads on the HO2S are OK and then the MAF (I actually cleaned the element in the MAF about a year ago) also I did replace the air filter a couple of weeks back (I may have dislodged the hose or something), then check the the Fuel Regulator pipes.

There is one other thing, Code P0161 (Sensor Heater Circut Malfunction Bank 2 - Sensor 2), where is that located and what does it do?

The HO2 sensors have heaters built in to get them up to temperature.

You need to clear the codes to see if they return after you do any work - it is possible some may be old codes.
