Title: scan codes.
Post by lleewar on Mar 28th, 2010, 8:13pm
Hi  Pegasus kindly scanned my vehicle today and it threw up a couple of codes I could use help with. By the way Paul, P1000 means OBD-11 testing was incomplete. The codes were

P0122 Intake air temp circuit low input
P0122 Tps/ switch A circuit low input
P1120 Tps out of range
According to Paul, the tps should be 16% but mine is running at 18% and I understand Simmo's is running at 17.5% so maybe not a problem but the other two need clarifying.
Your thoughts, and cures if needed,  would be appreciated Thanks Lee

hi there

what engine?

if it's one of the 4 pots, have you had the engine running with the air intake tubing off (sensor disconnected)? iirc, that would produce that error, even if the sensor wasn't faulty.

did Paul 'read' the temp from the IAT? what was it?

same applies to the TPS. what was the readings?

when was it lasted scanned? they could be old codes if you don't know when it was scanned.

Hi Mike, Engine 2.0 16v  and i have never run the engine without the air intake tubing off mainly because I dont know where it is!! Dont know when it was last scanned as I have only had the car for nearly a year, last owner for ten years owned a garage.
No other readings given except for the tps at 18%. Sorry no more help as it was a quick scan

Lee the tubing Andrew (Scorpio man) refers to is the intake tube from the Maf to the throttle. I recall you saying you had changed the Maf so that may have a bearing on the reading. Is the trunking fully secure?. The temperature sensor is the one you and Paul were looking at after the scan, fitted under the trunking. He may have the actual temperature stored on his lap-top so will no doubt reply when he sees your post. The TPS is fitted on the throttle body, between it and the engine so you need to remove the throttle assembly in order to get at the two screws which hold it in place !! ???. Mike
THIS (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/tpsdata.htm) may help.

Hi Lee,
For the TPS error code see HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/obd2scan9.htm) - you'll see that a battery disconnect may sort out problem (be aware of the issues around disconnecting battery).
Other data: TPS = 18.4%, TP_V=0.9229 (enhanced), battery = 14.13 V, the STFT (data) was reaching +15% (ie increase lean correction). The MAF appears to be working fine (though haven't run a curve to confirm) and the pre& post cat sensors were working fine.

Your IAT issue:
the IAT says 130C (data) or 149C (enhanced) - that's a bit too warm!!
Enhanced also shows IAT_V=0.0098 (low) and IATFM (fault present) = Yes.

Wonder if battery disconnect may sort this out as well

All codes were cleared.

Will need another scan to see if they return.

Paul
