i like your comment about "which i will win", about the brochure,what i have found is if you really want something,then bid in the final few seconds,at least that way you stand a chance,yes it annoys the hell out of me when it happens to me  >:( >:( >:(...
but then i think of all the other people i have done it too

The trouble with ebay is that if YOU want something that bad YOU don't care who else is bidding for it do you ?.
After all it would not be an auction if no one bids for it would it ?.

I was out bid for a hi level brake light for my 2.9 saloon, every time i upped the bid, so did he i thought it may have been the owners friend bumping the price up. I lost anyway. i'll keep looking. ( i hate ebay )

Never bid til the very last second, that way you wont push up the price. When you do bid, place the bid for the max you are prepared to pay.. Sometimes however there is just no way you are going to win. I have seen items go for far more than the normal retail value when people get carried away. I once soled a printer for £45 without any ink cartridges which cost £25 on there own. the printer could be bought compleate with ink for £39 from argos at the time.

Some of you may know that the Club Collectibles is sourced pretty much from eBay anything Granada or Scorpio related is watched for by myself and a fellow enthusiast sold through the GSO to fund our server.

We have seen over the past 6 months a massive increase in being outbid right at the end. I have found out that there are some 3rd patry software devices that will bid for you right at the very end. One of them is called e-snipe. I think it controvenes eBays rules and I am also not sure about how safe they are (i.e. they may contain trojans that install on your PC as well as the eBay sniper).

We are not allowed to link to eBay on our site as we got in hot water a couple of years back (another story) but it would be an idea to know who is who..

My eBay name is elmo_putney99 and I have 685 positive eBay feedback points :D

If a stock item is needed then I will bid to replace it trying to work some profit it. What we dont do is bid till the death.

But seriously if you want something for your car that bad and you are willing to pay the price then you will bid to buy surely,last minute or not.

I was swearing about you last night, I kept getting out bid for the Scorpio Handbook, Sorry if I pushed the price a bit high. Next time I may just check on here before bidding on Scorpio related bits.

I'm with Richard on this one. These days (eBay veteran of, er, weeks  ;D) I just bung in what I'm prepared to pay for something and then it's great if I get it for less and I don't care if it goes for more than I was prepared to pay anyway.

which one is it? I have just about every Scorpio brochure that I am aware of apart from the one I am currently bidding on. I have loads of German, French, Dutch etc. ones which are pretty good. I have a 1998 German brochure which has a great big picture of the Cosworth engine...........the one fitted to the Granada Scorpio that is!!!

Soz Bazzer me old china, not got that one. I have issue 2 brochure with a 24v on the front cover. I Paid £13 for it. Read it once and it now lives with my pants and socks in a drawer LOL ;)  But it is a clean drawer if anyone wants it. Its free

Simon. It is all relavant my boy. I've just been to the pub where I drink water or juice all night because I don't drink a lot of alcohol any more because it makes me silly.

My mate spent about £20 odd quid and only had as much fun as me who only spent a couple of quid. I gave up smoking over a year ago and as such have more disposable income than when I smoked 40-50 a day so I buy things I like now and sod the price.  My new silver Cossie sits proudly on the path next to my red one (for now anyway) and my brochure collection sits in my office on a shelf and gets read quite frequently.

I know my limits on Ebay (I've done it long enough) and the old adage of something only being worth what someone will pay is quite true and I will pay £26.00 for a brochure because I want to !!

I admit its annoying getting outbid at the end, so I now adopt the strategy of bid the max I would pay for the item on a single bid and if I get outbid it doesn't matter because it's gone to more than I would pay anyway.
Also by putting in one bid you don't need to keep checking on it to see if you are the high bidder because if you're not it has got too expensive anyway,

The collection is pretty much complete methinks. I have scanned quite a lot of them and intend to do the rest soon and then can offer to members if anyone wants one.


By the way, I've used snipe monkey for about a year now and not missed many things I have bid for. The only times I have was when the clock on my PC went mad and the auction had finished for 4 hours before it tried to enter my bid!! Something to remember!!

But baz I thought the whole point of ebay was to have an auction, people bidding against each other for what they think the item is worth, other wise we would all just have blue peter bring and buy sales and where would the fun be in that???

Still im buying nothing else off ebay, I bought a scorpio dog guard the other week, proper ford one too, only when if arrived its for a Mk3 granada hatch, oh b****r.

Still it made the wife laugh at my expense
