Title: All round vision
Post by ron_c on Oct 11th, 2004, 10:53am
I just been looking at Baz's Corsair and among the associated memories came one of the glorious all round vision that was available from well adjusted wing mirrors. I can remember when motorway travel became much more dangerous when these b****y door mirrors became compulsory.

It used to be possible to be aware of anything in range on both sides and behind the car without having to screw your neck around and peer at different angles or at multiple reflecting surfaces to make sure that there is nothing there.

I wonder how many accidents are caused by blind spots or other failings of door mirrors as opposed to injuries supposedly caused by wing mirrors.

I also remember that, when properly set up, the mirrors on my old MK1 Granada went 100K without adjustment and were always in the right place for both myself and my wife who is some 8" shorter.

Does anyone else have a similar view or am I just ready for a bath chair next?

Ron.

Sorry Baz, I was so overcome with memories of no 70 speed limit, cars you had to drive and lots of space to do it in. Mind, I also remember that 30 meant 30 then. 32 in a built up area and you got done by an unmarked car mate.

I shall now take my sedatives and lie down for a while.

Ron.
