Title: Leather VS Fabric Post by Lee on Nov 10th, 2004, 7:38pm I brought my beast back in April and it had fabric seats in it, i managed to get my hands on full leather interior for it .. What i was wondering if any else has done this and what you think between the leather and the fabric .. I personally think the leather looks great but is not as comfortable as the fabric , this may due to the fact i'm quite large (fat) :-[ and the fabric seats where wider ... Lee |

Title: Re: Leather VS Fabric Post by Baz on Nov 10th, 2004, 8:58pm Lee, my last three cars have had leather (2 Scorpio Ultimas and a Rover 75) and I must admit I agree with you to some extent. My old MK3 Scorpio 4x4 had fabric but with heated seats as well!! The leather does squeak a lot if you are a bit overweight!! Baz |

Title: Re: Leather VS Fabric Post by Geoff_W on Nov 10th, 2004, 11:46pm Cor your living dangerously John. ;) Mine came with Raven Black fabric and I swapped over to leather. Really no regrets, transformed the car. Car feels more solid? Certainly quieter and a chance to sit on the seats rather than sit in them. Only thing is that I reckon heat in winter is an essential because they can be really chilly first thing in the morning. However I can confirm that the fabric seats coming out are lighter than the leather ones going in so I guess that might sip a little more juice. Geoff ;D |

Title: Re: Leather VS Fabric Post by craig on Nov 11th, 2004, 6:48am craig got me started !! ??? ??? ;D ;D my opinion is the leather is ok,fair enough it's quite squeaky, but i'm on the case, the fabric seats do seem wider and a little more comfortable, and as for the heated elements,am i on my own here, but the fabric seats seemed to get a lot hotter than the leather ones ?,always had to turn the heated seats off after a while in the fabric ones, whereas in the leather ones, you can practically leave them on all the time without that feeling that you have just "wet yourself" ;D ;D..... but for looks...........yep the leather ones for me......... craig.. :) |

Title: Re: Leather VS Fabric Post by daven on Nov 11th, 2004, 7:39am Yep like the leather - not long swopped mine over, only downside is it takes a while to get used to the 'slippage' ;D - should see the wife when I swing it round a corner ;D ;D - I'm ok but guess who ate all the pies ::) The cleaning can be a bit of a pain, instead of running the hoover over them - but still worth it for the look! Title: Re: Leather VS Fabric Post by phuturephantasy on Nov 11th, 2004, 8:38am I have fabric in my 24v and after having driven Scorps with leather I can honestly say that the fabric seats are much more comfortable, I like to sit 'in' rather than 'on' especially when cornering at speed etc, they don't feel cold and hard in the mornings but DO look pretty pants compared to the visually impressive leather items. Comfort & Practicality - Fabric Looks & 'Bling' Value - Leather Yes I would buy leather myself - It looks stunning in comparison and the heart often rules the head in such matters. |

Title: Re: Leather VS Fabric Post by PiercedEllie on Nov 12th, 2004, 5:23pm Hi, The dog prefers the fabric, because now we have leather, he goes sliding across the back seats when I go round corners and he is laying down (prob trying to sleep!) Leather also much easier to clean the mud off! ;D |

Title: Re: Leather VS Fabric Post by mr._floppy on Nov 21st, 2004, 4:53pm It's the first car I've had with leather seats ( and steering wheel ) and I'm now a big fan . Must be easier to keep clean than fabric and they look and SMELL fantastic. Yes they are a tad slippy but, you could buy yourself some Jim Morrison style leather strides and have some, ahem, leather on leather action! |

Title: Re: Leather VS Fabric Post by PiercedEllie on Nov 21st, 2004, 5:33pm Unfortunately 'Pets R Us' don't seem to stock Jim Morrison esque leathers in dog sizes. ;D Ellie |

Title: Re: Leather VS Fabric Post by roger_howes on Nov 22nd, 2004, 8:42am I've had leather and fabric on a number of cars but I have fabric at the moment. The leather looks better, but the fabric seats are more comfortable. Fabric are warmer and they don't give me electric shocks when I slide in and out of the car. Also, with leather on a long journey, it wasn't long before I would start to slide around and end up being uncomfortable. Fabric seats 'grip' you better and help me to maintain a better driving posture, which means I am less tired after a long journey. Roger H. |
