I had the pleasure of driving a Lexus LS400 - 4.0 V8 32v and I have to say it was most impressive,made my Scorpio feel small, but I have to say it felt very much like a Scorpio to drive - says rather a lot about the quality of the drive in a 24v Scorpio when a £50000+ motor is compared to it. Bloody quick without actually feeling that quick, supersmooth predictable handling and steering - just like my Scorp.

Only my Scorp is a darn sight cheaper to buy and Insure (LS400 Gp 19 - Ouch)

certainly do like that motor....
who knows,when the scorpio is gone :'(,and funds permitting ;),and second hand values acceptable ;)

that would be the next one :)

Sure is a stunning engine, I always think of loud thundering, vibrating american muscle car brutes when I think of a v8 but this thing was practically silent and was the smoothest running motor I have ever seen, hard to tell it's even ticking over in the car. Power was almost linear with no real powerband to it just masses of oomph all through the range - lovely. If the insurance wasn't quite so steep I'd probably get one now but £900+ is just a bit too much for me.

A few months ago I was driven from a hospital in London to Cornwall (370 miles) in a lexus LS400.It was a litttle tatty but after all the mileage was 300,000.We stopped for a snack and since the starter motor was playing up the plan was I would get lunch first and then the driver would while I looked after the car ,so we could keep the engine running.When I got back to the car the driver had gone so I waited ,leaning up the side of the car.When he got back he asked why I had not sat in the car,I said I thought it was locked he said the keys were in it 'cause he had left the engine running.300.000 miles and I couldn't hear or feel the engine running.

Nice motor really you can stand a 50p up on edge on the top of the engine with it running at 3k revs and it doesn't move ... so smoth that engine...really is nice and loads of toys as well.... like elctrically adjusting sterering whell linked to seat memory etc etc etc...
