Title: Re: speed limits Post by Paul B on Nov 28th, 2004, 9:13pm Well I've always relied on 70 in mine, but I think that technically, it is 60 :( (boo... hiss!) Great news that the old bill don't know either! But there's always that possibility that you'll get the one bloke who does! >:( |

Title: Re: speed limits Post by colinw on Nov 28th, 2004, 9:31pm reason for asking is i have had a ticket saying i was doing 74mph ,i thought it was 70 allowing for slight speedo error i think they are being a bit harsh ,but unless i try a solicitor which i dont want to do because if it is 60 im banged to rights ,still i suppose driving down a quite dual carrigeway on the inside lane in wales ,is more dangerous and an outrage to public decency than mugging an old lady or worse ,but as i said before im not bitter and twisted no not at all ,i shall be up before the judge begging to hung drawn and quartered ,for being such a lawless citizen |

Title: Re: speed limits Post by waders on Nov 28th, 2004, 9:37pm Hi guys :D, I have to say, all the Sprinters round my way seem to be doing about 90mph :P! But the highway code says ::) 60 mph on dual carriageways for goods vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes.(70 for cars) :-/(my instant thought is what if you have a van for SDP only?). 8) ;D 8) ;D 8) Waders |

Title: Re: speed limits Post by Richard on Nov 28th, 2004, 9:37pm lol at Paul, Colin, not sure but i think it is 60 for 7.5 ton and above. |

Title: Re: speed limits Post by Baz on Nov 28th, 2004, 9:39pm Colin, I owned 5 Merc Vitos and I always told my lads that the limit was 60 in a van despite a dual carriageway at national speed limit. I read a thing in the paper recently that someone had been done for doing 70 in a bigger van on a dual carriageway because the laws states that they can only do 60 like a caravan and car Baz |

Title: Re: speed limits Post by waders on Nov 28th, 2004, 10:07pm Hi, No, the highway code definitely says "up to 7.5 tonne" It is lower for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes (50). I would scan the page, but my scanner is broke :(. 8) ;D 8) ;D 8) Waders. |

Title: Re: speed limits Post by Richard on Nov 28th, 2004, 10:15pm Yeah, thats right, It is 50 for 7.5 ton and above. :D silly me ::),lol. |

Title: Re: speed limits Post by waders on Nov 28th, 2004, 10:20pm Seems strange 7.5 tonners can do 70 the same as a car on a motorway though ???. No wonder there's confusion :-/. 8) ;D 8) ;D 8) Waders |

Title: Re: speed limits Post by nick on Nov 29th, 2004, 1:11am I thought white vans were allowed to do the maximum speed available for the van, i have been flashed in my cossie by a white astra van, doing 130ish, with a copy of the sport on the dash and 28 empty fag packets next to it. Nic |
