No not the drugs - Sorry !!

What is the fastest speed anyone has ever seen in their Scorpio?

I believe the 24v was 'limited' to 140mph but was easy to 'fool' using the cruise control but just How much faster will it go than this?

Obviously all speeds over 70mph will have been achieved on trackdays and on private proving grounds etc.

I think I might be a bit of a chicken. 'Only' 135mph for me (indicated).

Eek, a Scorpio on a track would be hellish.

Thought you'd done 140 in Germany, Barry? Or was it someone else. Either way, there's that picture on the front page.

I don't think the cosworth is good for any more than 140 because it's at the top of its revving range. Apparently the cosworth engine is strong to reach 190mph though.. with the right gearbox.

Now i'll answer the question. Hundred. Don't wanna lose my license ;)

Not taken my 2.0 much past the ton :-[.

But I find if I don't use the brakes.................all those cars that have a faster pull away time soon end up in the self dimming rear view mirror ;)

I've had 137ish on the clock on a bend so had to ease up a bit as the rear was starting to squirm & skip but she was still pulling well. Not a particularly long road either (Craig will know this popular local dragstrip).

I find the softish front suspension creates some woolly steering and straight line wander ( even without sidewinds ), something you don't need at 120 mph.

So call me Mr. Old Woman Floppy Plop Pants Scaredy Cat if you want but I'll stick to the legal limit.

the fastest i have done is 110 mph in my mk2 i would not trust my scorp untill it has been properly sorted out. :o :o

Deam.. 189kmt = 113mph... You beat me daven... hehe ;D

But havent deard to try it on a longer road...

(just hills and cornest on norwegian roads..... hehe...)

Hi,

Did try top speed after i bought my 24V.
(225km/h = 140miles/h) On that time i did not know the cruisecontrol trick, now i have to wait better weather and have summertyres under car before next try.

indicated 137mph. which,if i take into account the speedo over-reading by 5mph due to smaller rolling radius= 132mph. quite happy :)

Hi all ,

My '95 2.0 16v has indicated just over 120 mph and got there with little disgrace for the amount of metal being pulled along !
Having raced sidecars and solos I must say that the scorp was quite stable at speed and much quieter !!
The revs still had some way to go to thier limit so I must try the cruise control trick when I can legally do this ;)

too right,had a little mishap several years ago whilst trying to impress a few people with a 900 ninja..... ;)
didin't fair too well that night >:( :'( :'(

but back to the scorpio,did get mine up to 125,there was a little more,but common sense (and a nagging wife) got the better of me ;) ;)

My speed was "indicated" as 135 but in reality would only be about 121(ish) :-[ Keep forgetting that.
Still, whatever speed it was, it was enough to see off the Escort RS Turbo ;D

mine will get to 135 easily enough and gradually creep up after that - most i've done is that 135ish on the A46 between leicester and Nottm.

If you buy a road angel though i think it'll actually be a true 120ish though (as above, all speedo's are out and you'd need to recalibrate your brain for true speeds).

Done 170+ on several of my bikes though :)

But speed is ralative. 50mph on a wet race track with knee on deck heading towards a brick wall at Rockingham is scary enough IMO.

Had my 2.3 push just over 130 jobbies. and seemed stable enough, nbut wifey said slow down so I did. I had just got there to and was amazed that it would do that. Got to 120 quick enough and creeped up to 132ish (indicated) the cruise control wont work on anything less than a cossie (out of legs im affraid) but is was up agaist a GTE Nova that would not go away, and still didnt he pushed on to 140. bloo dy shamefull! :-[.

But that was then and I dont do that type of thing on public roads.
