Title: Re: Sea Monkeys.. Post by Vulcan on Jan 12th, 2005, 9:00am It's supposed to be a sort of science project come instant pets idea I think... http://www.sea-monkeys.com/home.html She just hasn't a huge amount of interest now. When it was first being set up she got into all the adding stuf to water thing but now she just looks in and says "aren't they getting big" and walks off. It's now down to me to aerate the water and feed the things. Apparently if they die off you let the water evaporate then fill it up again and a whole new load will come to life. Really wierd! ;) |

Title: Re: Sea Monkeys.. Post by Dave on Jan 12th, 2005, 10:25am Hmm, a friend had some sea monkeys.. they were pretty unhealthy though. I was fascinated by the idea. "Are they actually alive?!" mad. It's like having goldfish except far simpler. I've gone for a Bonzai Potato myself. Actually, it wasn't my idea.. the same friend who had the monkeys gave it to me. http://tinypic.com/18g4zq And this is mine http://tinypic.com/18g50i Takes 4-6 weeks to really get going, it's had a week so far. These things are going to be very popular, I can feel it! D |

Title: Re: Sea Monkeys.. Post by Vulcan on Jan 14th, 2005, 12:08am I had tropicals, moved from the wee ones till I had an Oscar the size of a dinner plate and two Plecostomus... in a six foot tank in my living room. The Oscar would feed cat food from my fingers and only me could clean the tank front without getting a bite from him. Had to give them away when we moved to this house with a much smaller living room. When I bought Oscar he was the size of a two pence piece an I niavely put him in the tank with a dozen Neons and half a dozen Tiger barbs, two blind cave fish and the Male siamese fighter... Oh and two cleaner shrimp... Within a month the only thing alive in there was Oscar... then I got given the two Plecs... he couldn't eat those spiky beggars although he gave it a good go... ;D I miss me fish.... bubbly bubbly in the corner..... :-[ |

Title: Re: Sea Monkeys.. Post by Nodge on Jan 18th, 2005, 2:51pm b****r - I've been outflashed! How'd you do the pic Dave? Looks like an actual video converted to an animated gif. Mine is just a still photo doctored in Photoshop. John |

Title: Re: Sea Monkeys.. Post by Dave on Jan 20th, 2005, 4:07pm Hey all! We're having serious computer issues at the moment... spyware and things. So, here I am on a 233MHz laptop on good old 56k. 56gay? Actually it's not slow at all. Weird. Nodge! I must admit I nicked the idea entirely from your picture. So, sorry and thanks : ). As you suspect, it is indeed just a really low quality video taken on a picture camera and put into Ulead Gif Animator 5 (you can evaluate it at download.com) and converted to a gif. Dead easy. In other news.. I finally bought my permanent car insurance today. I had to wait until now for my old insurance company to complete the year with the old car.. then retrieve the no claims and transfer to direct line... etc etc etcetera. £1010.10. Ho! Dave |
