Happened when I phoned up to find out how my car was doing at my mates garage when it was in for discs and wishbone bushes. I spoke to one of the mechanics...

me: how's the Scorpio?
him: the what?
me: the black Scorpio in for front discs?
him: oh the Granada...
me: no the Scorpio...!
him: yeah the Granada scorpio.... it's nearly all done the boss will phone you when it's ready..hold on he's here..
(silence muffled voices..then new voice)
Yeah the black Mondeo... nice motor, be ready about 4.00.
me: no the Scorpio.. it's not a Granada nor is it a Mondeo.... >:(
him: yeah whatever..the big Ford....

humph!!

Take your scorpio to the dealers in a few years time, and see the staff, stop what they're doing, and stare!! ;D I have that effect now, when I drive my corsair, down to my local dealers!!  ;D

God Ultima-Bloke, I did not know you where that old.
I used to have two Cresta's a four speed gearbox with a big black leather bench seat across the front.
The other one was an GM auto-gearbox again with a big two tone leather seat across the front.
Use to sweep off like a tram and hear nothing but the tyres on the road.

HaHaHa, I must confess John, Im only 30!! but I was bought up with classic cars e.g 50's and 60's fords, vauxhalls, rovers etc, by my dad who owns a consul classic, a mk4 zodiac etc. It was going to classic car shows, seeing corsairs, that I decided I had to have one, one day!! and the same about the pa cresta!! One day I will get one, one day!!  ;)

There you go - living proof that you don't have to be old to appreciate classics.
Sometimes its just in the blood  :)

only 30. just goes to show, never judge a book by it cover. What am I talking about, I don't know.
but don't forget that Ford that the engine bay as long as the rest of the car. well nearly.
I would have loved a Humber Hawk but those days have past me by.
yes i know the berkleys and all those three wheeler like the bond mini cars.
the older ones you had to lift the bonnet and kick start them but the new ones had electric start.

When I was a student in London, I had a girlfriend who was Jimmy Young's secretary at Chappell piano's in Bond Street - so we got free tickets to all the shows.

I arrived at her house (a palace as I recall) to take her to a show and her dad said we would get soaked in the rain and gave me the keys to his car.  It was a Humber Super Snipe which at age twenty, was a real expwerience to drive as the long bonnet seemed to fill the road ahead.

Difficult to believe now but I actually parked it (legally) in Leicester Square.

Oooh - those halcian days!!!

Then look what happened to me.  I've been going downhill ever since but have retained my love of decent size cars ever since.

If only I'd known then what I know now.  Stunning girl, well connected, with rich dotting parents.

Blimey STN, you've started me day-dreaming again.

I'm with Ultima bloke on this one, I may have only just passed 30 but love classic cars, something in my genes passed to me from my dad I'm sure.

Now why did I sell my 3.0 Capri Mk2? ???

that old ford with the long bonnet was of course Zepher (Yes I know not spelt it right, but my brain has gone for the moment.)
Then there was the Renalt Daupine (not spelt it right again but in a hurry) they used to roll over when you went round a corner that was a bit bumpey. The wheels used to tuck themselves under as the weight came off the wheels by going round the bumpy corner.
Then there where the Hilman Minx and that lovery Standard 12 four door. and the Standard Vanguard

Over the past couple of days, I've endured a few trips to my local FMD. And I've had to put up with my Scorpio being called a Granada every time I went in or spoke to them on the phone. Mind you, give them credit... they didn't call it a Mondeo at any stage  ;)

And the parts I needed? Well... it was 2x bolts! And it took them 2 days to find the right ones!

I must admit though, these bolts don't seem to be listed on the system  ???  They are the bolts that hold the rear brake caliper onto the hub carrier.

There's a section covering the rear hub, and there's a section covering the caliper. But the bolts which connect them are not listed on either section :-X  And the guy told told me that he'd searched across the range (Mondeo, Escort, etc) and none of these have their equivalent listed either!
Still, I've got the right ones now and have made a note of the part number should any of us need it in the future.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share my experience  :)
