Title: Meaning of ? registered
Post by ADroste on Mar 6th, 2005, 1:56pm
Hello,
you UK people often use expressions like: "car is P registered" or "car is R registered". I know that one can deduce from the registration letter to the year of first registration. But why is it P and not another letter? Does that mean 16 years before the system was started with A? Will there every possible letter be used? I have not found something informative by Google. So I do not know what will happen after Z. Can someone give a short explanation?
Thanks
Armin

All UK registration letters are explained in full here...

UK reg SITE (http://www.ukcar.com/features/reg_year.htm)

It's fairly complex and a bit difficult to describe any better than they do on that site.
