Title: Ebay Injustice
Post by waders on Mar 7th, 2005, 3:27pm
Today I was given a negative feedback, my first :'(, by a seller that a month ago I bought a scanner from.
I've never received the scanner, I paid immediately.

The seller has not responded to at least 5 emails,
their details that I requested do not exist (number not recognised).

I've reported them to ebay and paypal,
and yet they can still negative me............how does that work then ???

I feel for you mate - everytime I buy or sell I think "is this the one that will ruin my 100 percent feedback"

I am sure that if you have not made contact with the other ebayer within a set amount of time (for example their details are non existent) then ebay will over rule the negative feedback, there is definately something I read somewhere about unfair feedback - try searching the help pages.

Good luck.

Nick

Hi Barry.....
Soz to hear bout ebay. I had the same problem except the other way round. I sold Lynns clio and spoke to the guy (from  london) twice to collect the car. Both times he failed. I mailed him to say that he may get a negative feedback and low and behold i did! I also got an abusive/slanderous email which i forwarded to ebay. I have had my fees waived and the feedback removed by ebay.

Cheers Nick  ;)

Count me in as well chap I have my first negative feeback for no fault of my own this is the reply I sent to there question recently

:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

No!!!
I am not happy with this situation,

""I bid and won""

She then blocks me from paying by paypal some how,

I email and ask how to pay,

She emails me to say, pay not £2.20 BUT £9.99 + postage and package If not she will re-list,

I refuse and leave negative feedback as I feel is correct to do ,

She then leaves negative feedback with me?? ( IS THIS RIGHT ?  )

I am still not happy this situation can happen ( How Can this be ?? )

She will now re-list and sell again,

You ebay seem unable to make a decision as who was right??

NO I AM NOT HAPPY THIS CAN HAPPEN

Well I have an ebay account but am forever barred from selling just because I don't have a credit/debit card. Several emails to ebay and I still get the same stupid response outlining the procedure for using your credit/debit card to validate the account.

I signed up for a Paypal acount and although they at first wanted a card they further on allow you to register by just supplying bank details whereby they deposit two miniscule random amounts in your account and you validate by telling them how much they were.

With ebay I keep repeating that I do not have credit/debit cards and do not intend to get them and they keep sending the same silly response asking me to use my credit/debit card to validate.

Useless totally useless...

There is no cost to establish a Sellers Account. The credit/debit card and bank details are solely for verification purposes. You will only be charged on your selected payment method when you have incurred fees associated with listing your item
Our research has shown that of people who have a bank account, nearly one hundred per cent- 98% to be precise- have either a Visa, MasterCard credit card or a Switch or Solo debit card. Therefore, we are confident that these restrictions will not significantly disadvantage people who want to sell on eBay UK.

To set up your account to sell please follow the steps below:
1. Click the "Sell" button at the top of the eBay.co.uk Home page.
2. You will be asked to Sign In and upon doing so, will be asked to "Create Seller's Account".
3. Simply follow the steps presented.

It appears that I am now in a 2% minority who do not wish to join the credit card rat race but will be discriminated against because of it. I personally feel significantly disadvantaged..but do they care?  nope.
Are they going to find some other way for us 2% to validate?  not on your nelly...

grrrrr...

Ebay! Ebay! Hey did I hear someone mention EBAY?
Blow the insurance issues, this is something else I can get my teeth into.
I hate Ebay. because they are greedy so and so and will not lift one finger to help you.
They support the sellors because they pay them fees but buyers don't. Well if you can understand what I mean.
Ist to Waders.
If you have not received your item and paid by paypal you can get some money back. but if you have paid by cheque you have had it.
You can apply to Ebay but do it quick, because there is a time limited to do so.
You can ask them to remove the negitive but they might not be bothered to do so.
But people don't take much notice, its more what they say that counts.
I bid on a 2nd hand safe paid £212 and that was that, the phone number and email had been closed down.
Ebay told me we only put the seller and buyer in touch with each other. in other words get lost.
I also won a high end Hi-Fi item, the seller would not answer he sold to someone emailing him with a higher offer. Then a nother Hi-Fi item the seller told me, it was up in his loft and some tiles where missing off his roof and trhe item was damaged. But bull he sold to someone else who emailed him after the auction.with a higher offer.
I could go on and on. but Ebay have been in the press and on TV of recent with compaints again them so you might just be in with a chance as Ebay pretend to be caring and not get any more compaints against them.
Go to services or something on top of Ebay page and get that page with all those links. look for buyers and then clink on the link not received item and file an complaint againt the sellor.
I got lots more to say but no time to do it.
But its alway sad when a fellow ebayer loses out to these sort of people. I hope you did not lose to much money. But any money is not good news. I very sorry for you.

hi to Dexix, Don't worry about Negitives I got lots.
It what other people say about you.
I got mine because I left them one so they play tick for tack and leave you one.
But that don't stop me from putting the world to rights.
I never had one person refuse to deal with me because of my negitives.
Just the other way around. People on Ebay say I am the best thing that sliced bread.

whatch it Highlander, otherwise I might just continue on till well past midnight.
But its not funny. this is a bad thing to have done to anyone to have money stolen from them. Its not a matter for joking and acting the fool.

hi to vulcan.
Yes it madening to keep getting pre recorded messages to all your querys.
The bit about Credit cards, well the truth is they want you card details in order to be able to take your fees out of your account if you are a sellor.
They don't want to trust you to pay them.
They want to be able to get their greedy little hands on your cash as and when they want it.

Blimey John, are you going for a record number of replies tonight??

EBay is OK as long as you know what you are doing. I always check anyone who is bidding on my auctions and cancel their bids if they do not accept my terms (I do not deal with new members if they don't contact me first) Have a look at what I am selling at the moment, I have cancelled 3 already!!

Some sellers are bad just like some buyers, you just have to take the chance sometimes!!

Post by johnv on Mar 7th, 2005, 8:14pm
yes baz,
if you are a sellor you need to see if they have a goodish track records.
On cars there are so many people who bid and win and then don't respond.
If you are a buyer, you need to read what other people say. about the sellor.
Hey what sort and make of oil you got in your car engine then, or do you prefer not to say.

Barry,

Bearing in mind the theme of the post, you have my sympathy, I guess thats why my purchases so far have not been off the beaten track and I am not sure wether I would sell stuff.

Ebay has saved me a fortune so far but I guess I am still a little nervous. We do have some members with a lot of ebay experience Baz has found some of his most interesting bits of memorabilia (Tie 8) 8) 8) etc.,) and I have bought Scorp bits, it would be good to get others direct personal experiences good and bad so we can make better decisions.

Judging from the tone of the posts from Michael and Johnv I guess they have both been badly burned at some point.

Still with caution you can reduce the risks unless you come head to head with a gouger or a con artist.  But it depends on good information.

So what do you lot think then?
