Title: NTL Cable users
Post by Eddie on Mar 24th, 2005, 3:49pm
Just in case you havnt heard,NTL are upgrading speeds again, for free!
750k(originally512k) is going up to 2mb.
1mb is going up tp 3mb.
Take a look at the little bit below the BBC logo on the left of the ntl page.
You can do it yourself.
If you have a problem ring CUSTOMER SUPPORT on the o800 number given on that page and they will do it on the spot.

Our BT Openworld was automatically upgraded from 512 to 2.2 meg but I feel no difference, not even with downloads!

Maybe our old pentium is a bit out of date.

only trouble is its capped now :'(

Dont worry about the capping. It will only kick in if you are a constant abuser.
We all have the need to download something big now and again etc. and this wont be taken into account,or so I have been informed.
abuse by downloading gigabytes of music on a daily basis may attract some attention though.

ha ha ha ha NTL? biggest bunch of cowboys i have ever had the misfortune to come across! 45 minutes on hold to get through to customer services, billing you after you have cancelled the service, (if they cancel it), engineer never keeps an appointment, cable broadband always down, and running cables through cracks in garden paths yes i have seen it all.
they should tender for running disneyland after all they are a mickey mouse firm lol.  ;D ;D
you are better off with a proper established provider like BT or SKY and most reputable broadband providers require you to use a BT line anyway.  :) :)

NTL have always been helpful to me and in the year and a half I have been with them the system has never been down - BT are the opposite, and I am considering changing my phone over to NTL as well.

As for reputable providers recommending BT lines? Cant see where the comparison is as NTL is cable and more that capable of dealing with high speed internet!

Never had a problem with NTL ......I presume you dont have their so called digital "interactive" TV service  >:(

As I keep trying to tell them its not "interactive" in fact its barely "active"  >:(
What do they say ......ah yes press the red button to get more information. Where as what it should say is press the red button to freeze your set top box or press the red button to eventually have a screen come up saying there is no interactive content for this program/channel which is total B*&%&*$ as it had just been advertised that it did. When it does eventually get round to doing something its just sooooooo slow !!!

Then theres the loss of sound sync from time to time not to mention the channels that decide to do a impression of a skipping CD  >:(

Sorry I am no fan of NTL's TV service what so ever, now the FAT band thats a different story , its always worked well, and even though I am on their cheapy cheapy connection its always been way faster than what it should have been  ;D and the fact it just comes straight out the back of my STB makes for real easy networking. So NTL wins on that fact , and really thats the only reason I put up with the pants TV service really otherwise I would have gone to sky years ago , atleast the interactive actually works , I have even seen stuff like multiple screens on sky .......ah dream on chris maybe one day ;)

Phone services is .........well its a phone service, it works so nothing really to grumble about

Chris B

PS Hi everyone by the way, I am not normally this angry about stuff, honest,  some might reconise me from the E-mail list, I got here in the end  ;)

I thought you were talking about the broadband service, and yes you are right, I don't have thier TV service as it is to expensive and is not that good as you say, but then after all the problems SKY have given me and wanted to charge me for the so called service they provide i am not a big fan of thiers anymore either.
