Title: THE TWO RONNIES !!!
Post by craig on Mar 29th, 2005, 4:45pm
well,as we have had the topic of what we listen to in the cars,it has all suddenly dawned on me,i think i am getting old, after a few members have confessed to listening to radio 2 (and enjoying it),i must say that after watching the 2 ronnies the other night,i now appreciate comedy a lot more (now i am a 30 something, well nearly a 40 something)......
when the 2 rons were on,when i was a lot younger,i can still see my mum having a good old laugh on the settee, but not really getting too much of it,but like many of us (assumming we are in our 30's/40's),we now can all see the humour we didin't then, and certainly appreciate it a lot more, the 1 thing that does bother me,is all of this 80's revival thing, especially the music, dont get me wrong,i am not knocking it,in fact totally enjoying it,but when your teenage daughters dont seem to enjoy the music or the old programmes,it casts your mind back to when you were there age.....
life is a vicious circle after all...... ;) ;) ;)

mike....
i totally agree with you,i am an avid radio 2 listener, right keen on pop master with mr bruce, but what i was pointing out is the circle of life so to speak, never understood my parents listening to it when i was a radio 1 listener, but now,i can name all the radio 2 dj's,and 1 radio 1 that's chris moyles (and i only know that through the media ;) ;) ;)).....
must add this though, have enjoyed chris evans on radio 2 lately..... :) :)

As you know Craig, I'm an avid Radio 2 listener too (keep listening to pop master - one day I'll get on it!)
But I totally agree with you about the 2 Ronnies. I was sometimes quite amused at them at a young age, but it's ony really now that I appreciate the humlour properly. Very clever stuff at times.

So... we're all getting old, and it's all downhill from here!  :'(

Hullo all.

I'm 20 years old. I listen to radio 2 every night. And I love the two ronnies.

But that's because i've seen so little of them up until the last few years! This new show showing old clips is all brand new to me. And brilliant, too. I listen to radio 2 because it's generally quite good, whereas radio 1, at the time that I listen (late night) is generally appalling!

Have I skipped fifteen years?

Baz, I can't imagine you as a punk rocker... show us some pictures just for the amusement : )

dave...
i think you have hit it on the head there,20 somethings are now discovering the glories of the 70's and 80's,and although some of it was tacky and best left forgotton, the majority of it was brilliant, and as already stated,so glad it is coming back (well in parts anyway ;)).

paul,i'll keep listening out for you mate, both myself and amanda have tried before, but not successfull as of yet, perhaps thought that is good news,at home relaxed, can answer quite a few,but on the radio, live, yeah i'll probably make myself look a "right one".......................
(dont you think that since christmas though, the questions are certainly a lot harder :o :o :o)

A group of youngsters where I play snooker have recently started using the phrase "for..k..andles" from the two Ronnies whenever one of them plays a foul shot (4 points away) and they all fall about laughing as they try to remember the rest of that sketch.

Ellie... Don't worry, Maddy doesn't think they're funny either. But I still make her watch it  ;D  (she did, however, find the Fork 'andles sketch amusing).

Craig... You're right, the questions have been a bit harder this year. I have acheived maximum points in the past, but definitely not since Christmas  :-[

Think you're right, Craig. I've been enlightened!
It first started when dad played me some small faces about three years ago and for some reason I knew all the lyrics. Always liked Pink Floyd.. though not on dad's scale.

Is it wrong for me to like every Kraftwerk song i've ever heard? I haven't heard many.

But at the same we can't dismiss the new stuff. There are so many incredible artists shielded from the UKs charts. I've got this friend who is far too intouch with it all for her own good, but she tells me about them all so i'm not a complete dad.

Oui.

F U N E X?
I F N T N E X!

"You're going to have to go over the top and risk it"
"What now? now's hardly time to have a tea and biscuit!"

You can't deny.
