Title: Flash Car Wash System
Post by Nick_H on Apr 3rd, 2005, 8:44pm
You know the one - you've probably seen that bloke (the one who used to be Jacko in 'Brush Strokes') advertising it on telly...

I just wondered if anyone had used them and whether they were any good...?

(Apologies to our younger viewers who don't have a clue what Brush Strokes was...)

Elmo Putney.... what a guy!   :D

Had never seen the advert until starting to post a comment. Then it came on the telly. Spooky!

Anyway, I've no idea how good it would be. But it looks like something waiting to get broken  :-/

Brush Strokes? Qúe?
I know him as the Flash guy.

"Flash Barthroom does the job loike neva before!"

I haven't used it either. Like Paul says.. it looks fragile and too small and generally a bit of a pansy of a device.

Worth a try though.. someone?

Bucket a soft BIG sponge and loads of warm water does the best job. and a good synthetic Leather (Minky) to dry it off. Sponges are £1 for 4 in the everything is a £1 shop . they are good as well.

You have too much free time snoopy, sponge, leather.

You need to spend more time on the PC }{

I used 2 get called Elmo Putney at school :'(

As for the flash wash thingy, a mate of mine bought just the fluid and used it in his current jetwash and said the results were great. Not a smear when it dried.

same old trick of chucking some Rinse Aid as found in dish washers in the final bucket to rinse off the motor

Wife bought me one for my birthday. Takes a bit of getting used to,, if you miss a bit with the rinse off or if it dries before you spray off with the purified water, you end up buffing it up anyway because it smears big time! The rip-off part is buying the replacement filters/fluid @ £10 a set and they're only good for 3-4 washes. I've used it so as not to offend her,, but I've reverted back to a bucket & sponge and the magical MER shampoo!

So the MER shampoo gets a thumbs-up, then...?

Saw it advertised on Cable telly years ago and always wondered if it was any cop.

I've used MER for years and it is pretty good stuff.

You can get away with just doing a couple of polishes a year. If you put a capful or two in a bucket of water the rest of the time, that gives the required protection and shine.

One great advantage is that it mixes with water. So, for example, when you're polishing and get that dribble running down the door from the mirror ( >:() its ok... you just rub it all in, and it wipes off lovely.

Absolutely. The shampoo with a capfull of polish in it keeps the finish pristine with each wash. The guys on the list are leaning towards Zymol car polish, I've tried both and the Zymol is too labour intensive for a finish only comparable with Mer, I wouldn't say any better. I'll stick with the Mer. Don't be put off by the cost,, it'll last a year or so.

Completely agree about mer - superb. And then Wonder wheels for the wheels - excellent.

Ignore price when it comes to these products - definitely worth while.

Paul.
