Title: "IT WAS ME"  "V" reg Scor
Post by johnv on Jul 1st, 2005, 10:46pm
So what's it like. Well it just like the day it left the show-room, not a mark or scatch on it anywhere.  the same for the alloys just like new and it still smells like new inside.
Every light blub lights up on the dash and drives so nice and would leave a cosworth standing. ( I always think that cars that have only done a very low mileage are faster than large mileage ones, perhaps the valve springs lose their snappy power over time).
This car could have been sold for a thousand pound or more on the asking price because it is just so good.
Another thing that makes it so good its got ever thing possible extra on it.
Like headlamp washers. rear reverse sensors, telephone installed, (but not the phone).
Three rear seat full belts and head rests plus four air bags.
I knew about this car as soon as it was advertised because I registered on a site that sends you a email as scorpio's come up for sale.
Well as you can gather, I very highly chuffed. Might as well let the cosworth go now. Well now I got a faster car what's the point of keeping it.
Thinking of selling the 2.0 car as well now to make room for the next scorpio. Mind you it would have to be at least "W" reg and done less than 32,000 miles. Well you don't go downwards do you.
What I beleive is that in say five years and longer, people who have real nice ones the price will shoot up. as they become scares. Where I live each year there is a show where a lot of older cars drive around a route about 20 miles or so,  and go on display. These cars are bulled up to the eye-brows.

Forgot to say. This is amazing. that "V" reg scorpio. It belonged to "The Severn Trent Water Board. Well that my water board, in fact its only 15 miles away the address in Minworth, halfway between Coventry and Birmingham.where their Headquarters are.
God now I know why my water rates are so expensive.
But hey what would the Water board be doing with a near £30,000 Scorpio, surely they should have a old van or something.
I suppose it must have been for some big bug, well having been fitted out with a professional telephone I suppose it must have been so.
So how did it end up down in Basingstoke, near London?
The mind boggles.

thanks lee, that's nice of you. There is a older type chap lives round the corner from me he got a siver 2.3 buts its a Gahia. (well you know what I mean). He says the same as me. What would I buy if my car packed in. his is a "R" reg, done not so many miles.
His trouble is his car boot fills with water all the time but all my boots are very dry. no sign of water.

Seems like a nice car, but I diagree that you think a newer car is quicker than an older one. You should find that a car gets quicker as the mileages increase and they loosen up. A lot also depends on how they are run in and how they are driven. A car not properly run in, and then run on shopping trips and not given a good thrash from time to time to clear it out will be far slower than one regularly pushed along at a good speed.

Obviously by the time they are nearly dead they do get a touch slower. I'd check out your cossie as well, it should be quicker than the 2.3. Is it running correctly?
