Which one?

Mine is the travelpilot and I think it looks a better fit!! Which would you use?

you know my feelings on this one baz,definately the VNR,and i'm still looking for one.....,but i appeciate why you prefer the travel pilot ;)

LOL...the one above is on EBay at the moment. £400 and odd quid!

The VNR is OK if you like 2003 software I suppose

i saw it myself on ebay barry,buy it now was £520.00 :o

Best bet Craig is to scour the EBay Germany site. They come up a fair bit over there and aren't quite as rare and so not as expensive. The one I bought once cost me £260.00

A very tempting offer baz. Only problem is my crown victoria goes from a 1.5 Din size at the front to a 1.0 din at the back and I'm guessing the travelpilot is 1.5 Din the whole way back ???.

If and when business starts to pick up back here and I make lodsa money (Wishful Thinking 8), I'm seriously considering getting the old man to find me a late, very good condition cosworth and having it imported. The 4.6 liter V8 interceptor boasts an impressive 15MPG around town and 20MPG Highway and is starting to put a slight dent in my pocket :o. I need something more economical! Downgrading to the Cosworth V6 should fit the bill perfectly ;D ;D ;D

Dart,

You try reading a map doing 80 round the inner periferique of Paris or trying to decipher the maze that is Milton Keynes on a street map. Try finding your way to the door of a house or business you ain’t ever been to when the road it is on is 2 miles long and you can’t see the house numbers because it's dark!

For goodness sake it isn't techno for techno’s sake; I even have sat nav in my works vans because it is more convenient. It is very cost effective as well, because when I bought my Travelpilot for £220.00 donkeys years ago, I sold my 7000 with CD changer for £180.00 so after buying a compatible changer it stood me for about £100.00 and so a lot less than these Tom-Tom ones because they don't play CD’s or have radios on (I don't think anyway)

No more arguing and it takes you postcode to postcode, door to door. The TMC disk I have also guides you round traffic jams as well, try getting that from a bit of paper. Just think of all the fuel you can save not having a Cosworth at tick over for 1/2 hour while sat in a jam!!

Still, I bet you wouldn't pay to go on the M6 Toll Motorway either!!

Tell me more about this TMC please. My radio has a button with this on but I have no idea as to its purpose. I know it doesn't seem to do anything ???

Mike,

TMC is a system whereby the sat nav uses information from the traffic signals issued on classic FM and calculates a route based on this. It will automatically guide you round areas of heavy traffic if it is reported in the traffic bulletins. The disk costs £50.00 more than the standard DX navigation disk for mine

Serious note, if you are interested in finding out more about RDS TMC google ITIS or Trafficmaster for UK details as they seem to be the leading suppliers of fixed point and moving data
