Title: OK in the snow ? Post by mr._floppy on Dec 29th, 2005, 11:01pm As the Scorpio is one of the last rear wheel drive saloons around does anyone have any trouble driving in the snow ? I've never gone along with the accepted mantra that FWD is superior in snow conditions, my old dear departed Volvo 740 and now my current Scorpio seem to give no trouble in fresh snow conditions. Maybe it's my sensible driving but I've never been close to falling in a ditch }{ |

Title: Re: OK in the snow ? Post by nuttyscorp on Dec 29th, 2005, 11:21pm i have to agree, recently there is a lot of snow in kent, where i live, and ive had my first real taste, of how good that traction control is, when combined with snow drive (mine is 2.3 auto, and i know most dont have traction). i regulary drive 3/4 year old e class mercs at work, with the same set up as the scorp. they are both as effective as each other. occasionaly i do need to disengage the traction (when bogged down) as i doesent really help there. overall, im very impressed, besides rwd is more fun! ;D Russ |

TC off, realy easy to controll while having some funn... No prob going sideways round long corners in 60kmh... :D But, it IS slippery on the rearend, didnt get any better after the H&R springs got mounted... :-/ I try to always drive with full tank of fuel and some weight in the boot... Title: Re: OK in the snow ? Post by mr._floppy on Dec 30th, 2005, 11:47pm At least it's a chance to give the ABS a bit of a blast, choosing a quiet and wide stretch of snowy road and hit the pedal. |
