If you go to this page and read your VIN plate the colours are listed. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/vin.gif.

OK it says SB in the appropriate colour box which is Samakand or something?? Does that mean it's been resprayed?

Who says it is Astor Grey ?. Is that what the reg document says?. If so could it be that someone has simply made an error in thinking they knew what colour it was. Is Astor grey a Ford colour ? the charts in Halfords would give a clue wouldn't they?.

hi there

not sure if i'm reading this topic right or not, but....

Samakand is listed as well as Astor grey (from Fa 1263/2).

both colours look like your cars in the photos. ???

These were quite early colours along with Loden Green and such like. If you look at the early brochures, there are quite a few colours that had a couple of shades but as the cars never sold, Ford obviously reduced the number of colours available.

that is your colour, unless someone has resprayed completely. you would see some differences on the inside top of the front wings (welding bit).

Halfords do not do Astor Grey in a ready mixed tin.  They can make one up within 20mins for a tenner but then you would need the lacquer + halfords lacquers are nutse.  :o

Ford Astor Grey is available with its matched lacquer on Ebay for about £6.50 although it is a smaller tin. (but perfect match)

I recently did the whole of the bonnet in the stuff but it wasnt satisfactory + its havin a respray this week (thurs to be precise!)  Not bad in the photo tho eh?

Fords told me it was Astor Grey from the chassis # btw. Logbook just says grey (useful huh  :P )

Sod it, I'm going to order Auralis Blue from Ford Parts UK. Theres no way the colour of my car is Samakand and theres no tell tale sign of respraying. Plus the registration says it's blue.

I think you'll find you've bought the wrong colour then.

My registration book says Aubergine, the car has never been sprayed and is definitley not Aubergine, its Belladonna :)

Wouldnt take your chances buying just about anything willy nilly my friend Butter Man.

Why not take it to FMD + get the parts guys to tell you for certain?
