Title: Runaway throttle sticking BMW ! Post by mr._floppy on Mar 11th, 2006, 11:59pm Could this incident in the news yesterday be the result of a malfunctioning cruise control ? The Daily Mail reports that the driver couldn't force the car out of gear because it was an automatic ...???? ..... or even turning the engine off in case the steering lock came on. I realise it must be a very frightening situation but he had half an hour to work out some strategy to stop the thing and given that popping it into neutral at 100mph is going to do a lorra gearbox damage it's a safer bet than hitting something very hard at 100mph. |

Post by scorpio_man on Mar 12th, 2006, 9:44am hi there these are the people who you don't want to meet on the road. >:( simple solution. press the brake. what car do you know that car stop itself? select neutral, then turn engine off by ONE turn of the key. this leave the accessory circuit on and the steering lock won't come on. 1/2 hour to think of this and could work it out. {} ban them for life and give the rest of us a chance!! ;) |
