keke was finnish, and by the time nico was born, the family lived in germany. nico is german, parents are finnish!

you with me on that?

i might add, nico's drive in bahrain was an excellent debut drive, be interesting to see what he might have done, had he and his teammate not collided early on.......one for the future...mark my words.

thanks for that russ,

he did have a cracking debut, enjoyed the race, and that second alonso pit stop was awesome,
strange how ferrari are back now you can have tyre changes again.pity there'll be no spa this year, one of the highlights for me.
do you think they may have got it right with qualifying?
about bloody time!

cheers,
bob. :)

ferrari back? nothing to do with tyre changes-just wait and see, i bet their new rear wing is banned, its very controversial, apparently disturbing the air flow flow of the car behind, ie, trying to unsettle it, not good if you trying to pass a car at the end of a straight doing 190mph. if this is the case dangerous? i think so. rear wings should be designed for downforce only.
a few team owners complained of the wing, and pat symmonds of renault was one of them, he had feedback from alonsos car!itll be interesting to hear what ron dennis says when kimi is in a similar position too, however, the FIA have not banned it at the moment, so well wait and see!

shame to lose spa, one of my favs too! but it all comes down to money, a great deal of money and with the loss of tobacoo sponorship, its not easy keeping a race track up to F1 standards, by any means, we nearly lost silverstone too! just take a look at the new tracks, ie bahrain, malaysia etc, awsome circuits, stands and facilities, and with more and more countries trying to get on to the F1 calender. the older circiuts are forced into serious reinvestment, or risk losing their place.

qualifying- good, exept for the last session, whats the point of 10 cars "parading "for 10 laps burning off fuel, to do 1 fast qualifying lap, then top their cars back up with 10 laps of fuel?
personally, i'd like to see it go back to the old style of 1hr on saturday, (not friday as well)  and good luck to all.
i'd also like to see manual gearboxes back too, thats where the best overtaking moves came from, watching a driver chase another down, pressurising him so that he misses a gear, loses a place, and watch that driver tring to get back at him, sadly, its not likely to happen with the speeds and h&s.

Bob, you really dont want to get me started on F1, ive never missed a race, or qualifying session since mid '85, mansell, piquet, roseberg, and now im watching their kids!!!!!! :D im only 32! :o

lol Russ

p.s to this day, i still miss not seeing mansell chase someone down, especially senna in the '92 monaco gp, would have been his sixth on the trot. that man had balls, since then no british driver has got got close to what he could do.......but jenson might.....he might very soon.

I well remember James Hunt at Zandvoort the year he won the Championship. Lap after lap he led and pulled away from the 6 wheeled Tyrell (remember them??) in second place and we wondered why he didn't slow down. He won the race and in the interview afterwards he said the in the only place on the track where he had time to check his mirrors he could see someone very close to him and so he drove harder. Turned out that what he could see was the shadow of his own car and so he was effectively racing himself. Fantastic to watch as the cars drifted round the corners and my kids still talk about the adventure of going there.

Mansell was, and still is, a great driver but he has none of the charisma that James had. One of the true greats of F1 and sadly missed.

As Bob says... Jenson Button... I don't think so either!!

Just wait 'til Rossi arrives... yahoo!!

magic moments....

remember being in tenerife for the british grand prix one year, trying to ask the staff if they were showing it in the hotel.not speaking spanish they didn't have a clue what i was on about,so i mentioned one name.....pedro del rosa!straight away ,recognition!
imagine how they feel about alonso..
they still didn't know,so me and the boy went to watch it in a local bar,no air con,and very uncomfortable.
next thing schumacher crashes, breaks his leg,and we're in there a lot longer than we thought.
got back to the hotel then find out it was showing in the hotel rooms, plus being all inclusive, would've meant free beer! :o
at least the season got more interesting after that,

brilliant sport!
bob.
