Can anyone explain to me ('cos they won't) why, when I want to order a part from Essex Ford they want me to pay for the part up front before they order it. Dovercourt don't seem to have the same policy - they order it & you pay when you collect it.

our local ford are the same pay upfront

Maybe they had troubles with people who ordered and "forgot" to pick up when they realised how much it would cost them.

My local dealer is the same...pay up front for every item they have to order. As has been said, maybe they don't want to be left with a load of stuff that has been specially ordered

One of the main ford dealers that i use to go to, ....now that he knows me ( ;D) will order anything without asking me to pay first.

Same here really. Our local FMD parts man knows my face now, as I'm sure he does ~~both~~ all the other Scorpio drivers.

Once your face fits, I guess you're in.
Mind you, it may be different for a really expensive part :-/

knowing me now, i eaven get discounts.... as far as 40% but eaven so, some parts are way over my buget :P

Vospers here in cornwall is just the same cash up front, you,d think that they would get to know your face with being the owner of a money bank Scorpio :-/

I have ordred parts from vospers Falmouth and not had to pay up front.Maybe it depends if they have to get them direct from fords or ordering from another Vosper garage.

Well...if anyone in Essex wants parts & would rather pay for them on pick up (to check they are the right parts)...then go to Dovercourt (I use the South Woodham Ferrers branch)
