yep, scorp is just too big for her and her decidedly interesting parking technique.....was wondering if the cougars were plagued with similar problems to the scorp, and to go for toyota reliability.....

my dads cougar is 5 years old this september, apart from a loose oil filter and an abs sensor failing (the cast ring on the cv join the sensor picks up shattered, taking out the sensor),

the handbreak self adjuster seems a bit weak, and thus doesnt adjust properly at times.

aparts from that it's just the cost of new tyres (there a special one off tyre for the car)

The 2.5 engine of the cougar is great, it's taken from the mondeo, has 167 horse power. The power to wheight ratio make it move verry fast. From what i know they are pretty reliable. Japanese cars it is said to be relaible but when something goes wrong...i think they are eaven more exepnsive to maintain

is it a special size or something? ??? same could be said about the 16" scorpio tyre (225x50x16) as it is the same size for the RS200 group b rally car! :)

ford always seem to go for strange size tyres!

My wife has a Toyota MR2 G Limited.

Depends how much room you want, but for sheer handling, performance and all the toys you could want, it gets my vote. Not too expensive to run either, as they very rarely go wrong.

She only lets me drive it when I've been VERY good  :P

I only let her drive my Scorpio when SHE's been perfect!!  :D

yeah the cougar has an odd tyre size (215/50/16) and if you want a good make your looking at over £100 plus fitting for each tyre

ok, so she loves the cougar and definately wants one, sat in it and she cant reach the pedals with the seat fully forward (shes only 5'1). It has electric leather seats. anyone know how this can be resolved? i assume a booster seat will lift her further away

cheers

Tintin,

If you look at the seat mounts they usually have two settings if it is mounted on the front settings you can move the seat forward about an inch and a half and mount it on the rear holes on the subframe.

rang FMD   }{ }{

and asked if the seats could be moved forward, they asked if it was on a new one, or a second hand one, and proceeded to try and sell me a new car.....

i gave up there and then !! when i find one i can poke around myself i will have a look. last one i saw was £4500 T-plate with plenty of scuffs, rusty discs and mismatching tyres, 60k on the clock, again i laughed and walked away... seriously, how do they come up with these prices !!!

will keep you posted if we ever get it sorted, but her only other choices are Mazda RX8 or Porsche 911 (new one). The Celica/MR2 dont have the interior she wants, so i am struggling to find one she will fit and like....
