on tick over you can hear a sort of ticking noise coming from the engine, iv noticed that clios with fairly high mileage or ones which have been thrown around make this noise, anybody got any ideas as to wat it is coz its doing my head in and wanna sort it out

Tappets. Easy enough to adjust, look in the haynes manual for pics as i dont ave anything here to do a guide on.

Pull the plugs out, pull the rocker cover off, set of feeler guages cannae remember the order of the check. which evers lose, feeler guage in between the rocker and the valve, set it to 10 thou. undo the lock nut and wind it in until its 10thou clearnce, then redo the lock nut. do this on all of them.

Where do I get feeler guages from? Halfrauds? Good motor shop?

hmm, i have a clio mk1, 90,000 miles on it and it's not exactly driven to the speed limits, but my engine is as sweet as a nut. hes probably a someone who has no knowledge about the technical workings of a car lol

as for the comment "it's doing my head in" he needs to own a scorpio....

Don't you just love the highly technical info given and if he don't even know where to buy feelers....... Oh those burnt out valves!!!
