Title: Re: £58 to fill up Post by km449 on Jul 23rd, 2006, 1:47pm Just completed a late night 300 mile trip on deserted A roads and motorways. With the family asleep on board I set the cruise control at 75 and looked forward to checking the average mpg when I got home. To say I was disappointed to see 24.7 average mpg out of a 2.3 which barely caught it's breath is the understatement of the year! Apart from the first mile and last 2 the car was cruising at 75 - singularly unimpressed! As I sat there actually enjoying driving in England, on deserted roads, I wondered why I'd been thinking about changing the scorpio for an XG 30. At 24.7 at 75 mph now I know why!! |

Title: Re: £58 to fill up Post by cossieguy on Jul 24th, 2006, 6:12pm My local Shell garage in Wroxham,Norfolk has U/L at 99.9 and Optimax at 100.9!!! Tough choice but I think i can go the extra penny!. 4 miles down the road in Norwich U/L is 94.9! But in a cossie that 8 mile round trip eats up the price difference ;D |

Title: Re: £58 to fill up Post by Baz on Jul 24th, 2006, 7:47pm QUESTIONS ANSWERED ON LPG VEHICLES How long will LPG remain at around half the price of petrol and diesel? New petrol and diesel vehicles are becoming cleaner but there is still a considerable emissions advantage to be gained by using LPG power. In recent independent pan-European tests, on urban roads on average a diesel vehicle emits the same fine particles as 120 LPG vehicles and the same NOx as 20 LPG vehicles..And, unlike petrol, the use of LPG results in similar CO2 emissions on a well to wheel basis as diesel vehicles so that there is no penalty for our planet in global warming terms. The Government has recognised these benefits and have put in place a long term strategy for supporting LPG. This gives confidence to those considering buying an LPG vehicle. The Government has made a rolling three year commitment to fix the duty on LPG relative to that on petrol and diesel so that every year we will know the level of duty for the following three years. The level of duty means that for the foreseeable future the price at the pumps will remain at around half the price of petrol and diesel. |

Title: Re: £58 to fill up Post by mazzy_j on Jul 26th, 2006, 8:43am Biodiesel is the way forward... ;D For us derv owners anyways. Shame the government doesn't fully recognise the benefits and taxes this virtually carbon neutral fuel so highly yet its one of the very few existing fuels that won't screw up the planet in the long run >:( If there wasn't any tax on using used cooking oil it would cost next to nothing to fill up your car, and would save thousands, possibly millions of litres of waste oil from just getting chucked down the drain due to high disposal costs. Title: Re: £58 to fill up Post by martin_rowe on Jul 26th, 2006, 8:52am 72L of LPG for less than £25.00 (yes thats 16 gals) for a fill up on my 24v. bio diesel is still mixed with conventional diesel, cooking oil will not run in HDI diesels, plus how much waste cooking oil do you think is out there. suppose I could be naughty & have the central heating converted to LPG (15-17p per litre) instead of natural gas and fill up from my own tank. ( not that you can do that legally though). |

Is it? I can't actiually remember the last time i stuck diesel in my car. runs fine without. Youre right about the hdi's, the electronics can get a bit confused. As for how much waste cooking oil produced a quick google search came up with Quote:
