Title: rear ended Post by cossie_al on Aug 23rd, 2006, 8:50pm well the wife was taking the kids to flamingo land today and some b*****d ran into her at the lights. thankfully the damage to the scorp does not look too bad due to the tow bar. However, the bumpur does now have a large crack and it resting on the tow bar where there was a half inch gap before. I just hope the bumper has moved and the tow bar mounts havn't buckled anything. I will find out tomorrow. The most anoying thing is she didnt even take any details of the other driver because she didnt see any damage to the scorp. I will be playing on this one for months that will be me going out for beer whenever I want, and she will use her car to pick me up when I am ready or full of beer ;D |

Title: Re: rear ended Post by Spannerdemon on Aug 23rd, 2006, 9:00pm Sorry to hear your bad news. Too late for you, but if anyone ever rear-ends your car then INSIST that you have it examined by a garage before agreeing any possible mutually acceptable sum without using your insurance. A taxi did this to my wife's car a couple of years ago. He tried to brush it off, saying that 'he couldn't see any damage', and would give her £50 for a new bumper. She insisted on it going to the garage. There was misalignment damage which cost over £1000 to repair!! :o |

Title: Re: rear ended Post by cossie_al on Aug 24th, 2006, 7:42am Ok get this, we just had the "dont worry its only a car and no one was hurt" discusion. I was trying to ease her guilt and told her she was in no way to blame for the accident but she still should have got the other drivers details. And now I am in the bad books for making her feel worse. :o :o :o Dont suppose anyone on here has an understanding of the female mind as well as a green bumper ;D ;D ;D |

Title: Re: rear ended Post by Highlander on Aug 24th, 2006, 12:15pm I can bring my OBD lead and give her a scan if you like :) |

Title: Re: rear ended Post by cossie_al on Aug 24th, 2006, 12:31pm Yes mr._floppy it was I who convinced her that my car was far better than hers to drive and yes it was I who ended paying the extra to put her on the insurance. And coming to think of it it was I who paid for the driving lessons and tests. What on earth was I thinking? ::) ::) ::) Highlander, I think perhaps its me who needs the scan! But she still should have got the other drivers details so I will still be going down the pub as and when I want with free taxis home. 8) When a mans car is bumped and he is not there its a mans prerogative to play on it for months Just imagine if it was the other way on :o :o |

they're all wired up the wrong way - as a former neighbour would say! The green bumper I can help with as long as you want the rest of the motor too (or want to pay circa 500 just for the bumper ;)) |

Title: Re: rear ended Post by cossie_al on Aug 24th, 2006, 10:35pm Guess who came home from work tonight with two bottles of my favourite wine? Had a good look under the car tonight and it looks as though the tow bar saved a lot of cosmetic damage the rear most mounting plate is slightly out of shape but the structure of the car appeers okay. :D But dont let on to my wife because she still thinks she is paying for an inspection by a specialist ;) (as well as a bumper) ;D |
