Saw it earlier and wouldn't mind having the wheels(My 12 spokes are a bit battered) and steering wheel, think i'd rather have my leather armchairs though. Not an ultima spec either, but bodywork looks V.good.

Item No. 220024952589   is  pretty good too,  low mileage,    although  being a Ghia  it  doesn't   have  all  the  toys,   plus   it's  a    manual .

Well, nice but a few things I noticed...

The dash shot is with the ignition switched on but no range showing on the computer and the fuel gauge is on empty???. Faulty computer???.

Was Climate control an option on the 24v Exec?. It looks nice but unnaturally clean (over valeted) for a 77k mile car and there are some places where the paint doesn't quite match, not that a respray is a crime though.

Good looking car though, wouldn't mind the steering wheel either :).

Regards, Bruce.

It's still on auction, maybe it's been re-listed, and it's got bidders now.

Nice Car, somebody will get a nice drive there.

body work good , but the seats clash with the steering wheel

on one of the pics  on frount bumper was that paint faded or just bad camera light ?

the cosworth cover looks as if its got cooking fat on it
i dont like them seats in a scorp :o

i dont like the steering wheel, to me it looks half finished.
why change excellent comfy leather seats for crackerjack ones that might as well be in burberry check, smells a bit of boy racer ownership.
says he's chasing the service history, which generally means there isnt one, what mileage do belts, chains need changing in a cossie?
tidy bodywork though.....

A very well presented ebay ad.

Obviously somebody ticked a lot of options to add to the base model including the interesting Recaro interior but for a continent gobbling cruiser it misses the cruise control  :(

And a sunroof would be nice ;D

It's not an Exec, it's a Ghia. That's what it says on the rear doors :)

Nice one Jonny well spotted! I just read the Exec description on the ad header. You would have thought that the seller would have made something of the Ghia badges  ;)

hi, well it deos say ghia on the badges but the owners log book says exec  as ive have been in contact with him and plate check brings back scorpio exec model  ;D

ones a 2.3 estate and of corse ones a cossie saloon, and even more shocking then having 2 is that both are runners  :o :o ;D ;D ;D but there is something about these cars that grow on you, not figured out what it is yet (although the cossies low rev gurgle and high rev roar is something quite special)

Thought the same too, something about that car bothers me. So many options for a Ghia, surely the Ultima wasn't that much more once you paid for options like the 12 spokes and the climate control? Someone's had a tyre shine orgy on the engine/trim too, just try and remove all the dirt that sticks to it after 1000 miles :D.

I still have the original Sep 1996 price/options list with my car. It was registered just a week after that one so the options should be the same. The Recaro pack also added the 12 spokes and front fogs, no fogs on the pics though???. The RDS6000 was an option too but no mention in the pricelist of the option of climate control on the Ghia???.

The steering wheel has faded badly, would've matched the dash in 1996, the one good thing about having fake walnut, it looks like new a decade on ;). And no Matt, I never looked at my own car this close, a drive down the A120 and a quick peek under the bonnet and it was mine, never thought about thumping gearbox syndrome or binding brake syndrome until they started rearing their ugly heads the next day :D.

I'm all confused now. Regards, Bruce :).

mm strange really what i see is a stunning looking scorpio fitted with the recaro,s option and in stunnig condition for a 1996 car clearly cleaned up for sale as you would for the ebay but everyone here or most of you seem to be looking for fault or to put it down hopefully the new owner will be a member of this forum and join you all on one of your meets to put all of your cars to shame  :P

Yeah it is nice, even if the seats aren't to my taste. I just think there's something being hidden there, mabye I'm wrong.

This says its factory fitted but on an Executive?

Undoubtedly a nice looking car presented to sell, could be completely genuine, especially if it is a run out build just before the facelift, when almost anything from the parts bin might go on it. It could even be a ghia mis registered by the original dealer (happens) or one of the previous eight owners may have done what many of us has which is to add items from other caes. (usually interiors, wheels and radios).

In any case as long as the miles are genuine and it is good mechanically and the VINs check out somebody could have a car that will get people scratching their heads if they take it to meets.  ;D

Andy

just checked the cat, options factory fitted were Recaro trim, wood/leather sterring wheel, known as Sport pack A. Also, has AC factory fitted.

It doesn't have foglights or headlight wash as these were another option when new. Build date is 09/96.

Andy, you are mistaken when you say you have never seen a Scorp with these racaros fitted, you've seen mine, Sport pack A fitted with 12 spoke chrome wheels (another option) and it has 65000 miles on now. Whilst the seats are not heated, they are especially supportive and comfortable, whereas the leather seats in my estate are like big comfy arm chairs.

Hiya Geoff

oh I see 2 scorpiomans.................. i think you are right Geoff in that the car is a run out model as it is listed as Exec on log book yet is ghia'd up, maybe a way ford got rid of all run out models or even could be a Ford demo like mine was.

Either way, its a lovely looking car, and an HPi will put minds at rest.

Simon

Well, if it all checks out then someone's getting a nice ride although I'd check out whether the trip computer/fuel gauge works, that in itself could become expensive :). I'm wary of eBay nowadays but if someone from here gets a bargain then good luck to them.

Ford changed the badging around seemingly just for fun, some Escort/Fiesta Populars got registered as Bonuses, even specials registered as Ghias or Pops. We even had a Capri LS registered as an L...

Just my extra 2 Cents.

Looks to me like a different shade all together, possibly resprayed poorly.

It's badly matching paint, not that a respray was ever a crime :D

Mabye you could respray the bumper and sort out the trip computer before the end of auction ;)

lol, well the bloody sun is never in the right place when you want it ::)

My car really started off black, people just think she's blue but the car's a liar; those big eyes are deceiving them and I feel drawn to polish her so much that she's changing colour; I never bother myself to polish the bumper and although it's still black it's like a chameleon, enjoys a regular colour change but always changing colour to match the rest of the creature ::)

Regarding the fuel computer, you must have one of those magical bottomless fuel tanks fitted, very rare I am told, never seen one of them on a Cossie myself. They tell you they're empty but they just enjoy lying, secretly they never run out of fuel and you can still warm the engine up with everything running on empty. I wish I had one fitted to my car, when I bought it the tank was on the redline, so empty that it stalled twice on the way to the garage but I still had 2 miles range showing, mabye it lied to me???

Hope you get a decent price on it ;)

Regards, Bruce.

End price was £1200, hopefully someone's got a good bargain drive.

With the price of these at the moment I'm seriously thinking about Scorpio #2...

Bidding closed at £1200 but did the seller let it go for that, or did they negotiate with the buyer privately after ebay finished?

Seems cheap to me...

Yes the scorpio sold for what she finished at  :( i had to let her go as i needed the space for my next car mm maybe another scorpio she should have made much more really i did do some negotiating but that was only for delivery as the new owner wanted it delivering to london yes he has got a real nice ride there and a bargain and she looks just as good in the flesh as in the photos new buyer is well chuffed she flew down to london was a brezze to drive down there in i will buy another thats for sure there such good value for money and in my opinion well under priced.
