Title: Got my car back from the bodyshop
Post by cossie_al on Sep 22nd, 2006, 8:19pm
As most of you will be aware I have had a run of bad luck with my scorp. Or that should read the wife keaps bumping it into things.
Anyway the last one was the best yet so I decided to let the insurance pay for the repairs.
They have had it for three days to replace rear bumper lights tow bar and sort a couple of dents on one wing.
Got the call today to tell me it was ready, so of I went wondering what sort of mess my car would now be in.
I have never been so pleased with any work from any garage ever :o
The paint quality is excellent as is the colour match. You can hardly tell the bumper has been cut to fit the tow bar.
So the repair is absolutely A1.
But the car was also fully washed polished and valetted down to the tires being dressed.
I happened to mention the the courtesy car had no screan wash in when I collected it and the guy came and put me half a tank of fuel in my car :o
So the body shop at Holiway ford in Durham is to be trusted with the scorp in my opinion :D

Yes mate could not believe my eyes as far as the repair is concerned.
The only down side was, I was told I would get the same spec car as a courtesy car but I ended up with a roller scate ;D
They called it a fiesta, You just would not believe that the manafacturers of that thing were also capable of building a scorp.
So I reckon they wanted to keep me happy because the courtesy car was not as promised.

Will do mate but I am afraid I was subject to the curse of the rain gods again as soon as I got the car home it poured down >:(
I tell you what I cant even clean a mirror or a window on the car and the heavens open let alone if it gets polished for free

But isn't this type of thing why we are paying through the nose for car insurance.
As for the quality of the job itself, I am made up for you, but shouldn't this be the whole point - to put your back to exactly the original condition, after all they are manufacturers agents.

Am I being a miserable grouse????

Usually the insurance company would have written the car off as a top repair like that would cost more than the car is worth.
Had the same thing about a year ago on my wifes N reg Mondeo.
A lease car backed into it in the local Tesco car park while my wife was sitting in it waiting for me. I saw it happen as I walked out the shop & the guy admitted liabilty & said his insurance would sort it.
The car was worth about £500 if sold privately, but the insurance company agreed to repair it rather than write it off. ???
When I picked it up from the bodyshop I asked the guy (just out of interest) what the repair cost was. At first he said he couldn't, but after pushing it & saying "I won't tell anyone...honest" he caved in.
Basically....New bumper, sundries, paint & labour....... a tad under £1200 :o

Personally I would have preferred the cash to write it off. Now were left with a crappy looking Mondeo with a great front bumper ::)
