Title: Re: Engine taking shape Post by TiberiuS on Sep 23rd, 2006, 7:56pm Nice :). What sort of power output are you working for? The 2.3 is nice enough but I wouldn't call it either powerful or quick, mabye I'm alone thinking that, mabye I've been spoilt :D Keep it up, Bruce :) |

Title: Re: Engine taking shape Post by TiberiuS on Sep 23rd, 2006, 8:39pm 3.5 V8 ;D My Capri had a brace bar fitted when I bought it, car was totally stock 3.0 Ghia visually outside. It did make the car feel better on cornering, even on normal roads; the Capri was always famed for being tail happy though ;) Nice work under there though, looks like you've spent a fair few £££ there :) |

Title: Re: Engine taking shape Post by taliban on Sep 23rd, 2006, 11:51pm kj, you use polishing mops on a drill with different grades of polish in hard block form. you can buy the mops and polish in a kit that normally consists of a coarse mop, medium mop and a fine mop, a bar of blue compound polish and an arbor to fit to a drill. a company called cetem make and supply all you need, a kit costs around 20 quid. i polished a motorbike frame once, looked fantastic, but i warn you, it can take ages, is very messy, and once done, the item will need regular buffing to stop it tarnishing, and dont use a dremmel, they're too small and the motor will burn out. |

Title: Re: Engine taking shape Post by RichardMS on Sep 24th, 2006, 1:23pm Kj, as taliban has said, I used this 6" kit (http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.asp?p=060722015) and a Dremmel type tool. I also rubbed it all down with 800 grade wet or dry first. Not that much spent really, about £65 so far and that includes all the stainless bolts, polishing kit, oil filler cap, wire covers and strut brace, I won that for 99p on ebay and converted it to fit ::) |

Title: Re: Engine taking shape Post by taliban on Sep 28th, 2006, 8:41pm you could spend a small fortune and 'braid' every single hose in sight... ;D |
||
Title: Re: Engine taking shape Post by RichardMS on Sep 29th, 2006, 9:18am Got some overbraid that I had on my V8 Manta years ago so may use some of this, that cost me a fortune then ;D I will also replace all those silly hose clips with stainless ones eventually, Also got to tidy up some rusty bits and pieces too. |
