Title: Re: anyone on here Post by LiverpaulH on Oct 27th, 2006, 10:30am You don't actually need to convert a car to run it on cooking oil depending on what it is. Modern diesels are a complete no no, common rail, direct injection etc, it stuffs them up. Most old diesels revel in it. Problems can occur in the winter when the temperatures drop due to solidifying of the oil. A mate of mine runs his ax diesel with no probs through the summer on oil, and only starts using diesel again when it starts becoming difficult to start due to the weather. He buys the massive veg oil tubs from tesco cheap during the winter when they sell them so his gargae is full of the stuff before the summer. Does smell a bit like a chippy following him though. Title: Re: anyone on here Post by LiverpaulH on Oct 27th, 2006, 2:53pm Can't see why not, maybe worth trying a low % mix to be on the safe side. The only reason I haven't done so on mine is that I get my fuel from work. Don't forget to let the theiving chancellor know so he can retrospectively charge you the duty!! ;) ;) Paul 8) |
