Title: Re: Cool Scorpio sighting in Finland Post by pappa on Nov 18th, 2006, 10:59am Dunno, haven't done that yet ;D I'm about to go change the rear wheel bearings and do some other work on it soon. I reckon it'll take about 5 mins for the windscreen and back window to clear. But on the sidewindows, it's manual work :) hmm... An idea... Wifey! Go buy a sixpack from the town hon, would you!? SLAP! (I guess not... ) ;D |

Title: Re: Cool Scorpio sighting in Finland Post by Kjetil S on Nov 18th, 2006, 4:25pm I think you may need an engine pre-heater ;D |

Title: Re: Cool Scorpio sighting in Finland Post by pappa on Nov 18th, 2006, 6:24pm WELL ... It was an easy job after all, the temp rised up +2 celcius, so the windscreen heater took care of that and backscreen heater of the backscreen. All there was to do was to scrape the sidewindows and it very easy too. Once it rained overnight and then it dropped down to -10 C. Had a Mondeo back then, took me half an hour hard work to get in to the car, then another one to peel it :( bizzay1 - we drink a lot of alcohol and grow hair to our backs. ;D |

Title: Re: Cool Scorpio sighting in Finland Post by pappa on Nov 18th, 2006, 8:26pm Where are you from? The record for us - right where I live - in the middle of Finland is about -42 Celsius. In our backyard that is. -20 C is common in january/february nighttime and often it goes down to -30 C. I'm looking forward firing up my Cossie at -30 C :) Going back a couple of years there was -51 C in Kittilä, Lappland (Finland) But yes, - 30 C I know what is mate... brr... |

Title: Re: Cool Scorpio sighting in Finland Post by TiberiuS on Nov 18th, 2006, 8:40pm D@mn...and I get worried about firing my car up at 0 C when it's been laid up...what a wimp I am ::) Regards, Bruce. |

Title: Re: Cool Scorpio sighting in Finland Post by pappa on Nov 18th, 2006, 8:44pm I'd rather have -5 to -10 C than 0 C. The air is a lot drier and causes less humidity problems. Currently it's around 0C and there's a heck'uva fog outside :-/ |

From Romania I have fired up my 2.3 at -20 C. The starter would barly spin....3-4 times...and it fired up.....for 2-3 minutes it did like a tractor plowing the farm.....verry noisy..... The cold period was for a week or two...then it went to warmer temps (-15,-10). I have started the car about 2 times per day....about 4 or 5 days...... In the spring the battery passed away...hmmm i wander why ;D |

Title: Re: Cool Scorpio sighting in Finland Post by pappa on Nov 18th, 2006, 9:09pm Well Hello there Romania! Last winter I had a VW Touran 2.0 Tddi -05 with a pre-heater on it. We had -27 C and it did not start. Winter grade Diesel was in the tank... My -86 4x4 Scorpio needed about 15 sec to start... VW had to go, it was a disappointment. Very good to drive, very low MPG (km per litre as way say), but a disappoinment in quality and to use. Had to jack it up six times to remove little rocks from the brakes... what a noise they make! Same problem seem to pop up in many other cars that are manufactured with similar rear brakes. They suck in all the little rocks that whirl around under the car. I'm off to bed, catch ya later guys... :) |
