Title: Slow ?
Post by mr._floppy on Nov 29th, 2006, 6:07pm
Maybe it's   the  valves or  the  Cat's Whisker  ( you  can tell  I'm  a  Computer whizz-kid )   in   my  PC   that need    replacing   but  is  this  site  getting a bit slow  and creaky  lately ?

Even with broadband it takes   up to 15  seconds to change a  bliddy  page  >:(.

Is there a plug not connected up your end or summat ?

hi there

there's a topic on g&s online about this. no one is sure what is happening. one minute it's fast, next slow.

i'm not getting too much trouble with our site. just the odd page is taking a bit longer.

something for steve (site owner)?

[] I've noticed it's slower than usual, not that I'm complaining ;)

might depend how many are on line at the same time using bandwidth.
also, if you have other applications running that will slow it down, or rather your pooter...

Have noticed this as well,
P.S. only application running is firefox, So it's not the pooter. Go to other sites and speed returns.
Guy.

Try installing Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/) and run a full search. If you're a regular IE user, you will probably be astonished  ;)

Also try Lavasofts Ad-Adware, another fee download, just google.

Run both once a week, it's surprising what they pick up!!!!

Another freebie is 'Spyware Blaster' which stops it getting in, in the first place  :)

For all of you Computer SPEED freaks . there appears to have been a problem with connection to the states over the weekend and I understand the server may have been undergoing some maintenance.

Thought So!!

I have a golden rule .
Never, ever touch a PC if websites start running slow.
It's very, very, very rarely the PC that's at fault. I have always built my own PC's and I know they are 100% reliable at all times.
Connection speeds, server issues, and plain old fashioned high-usage can all affect things.

Anyway, you should have been putting up those shelves Mr Floppy!!  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

Yes the site has been slow over the past few days but this has been due to circumstances beyond our control.

I spoke with Steve in the USA last evening and hopefully the situation will now improve.
