You could always get a job as Prime Minister, they seem to do pretty well out of it >:( ;D

Been having trouble myself with my BT broadband hanging up on me, happens a lot for a couple of days then behaves for a week or more. And then I gets a phonecall from them last week wanting me to upgrade to 8 meg for no cost...

...turns out I need an ethernet card and a new modem at the very least...

Not sure yet whether it's software or the line, need the net for my university asignments, just hope it doesn't start going awol then :-/

Regards, Bruce.

my parents are on BT broadband, had trouble since they got it (live on an ex-farm, quite remote), was always dropping and picking up the line again.

i tried everything, BT help no use, finally fixed it by upgrading the router software with the latest drivers, no idea why  ???

always worth a try if you are having trouble....

I had problems with my broadband a while back - it kept dropping out and struggling to reconnect.

BT said there wasn't a fault on the line - despite me having taken my router into work to check it was working fine on the line there. If their equipment says there's no fault, they won't do anything - like really checking to see if there's a fault  >:(

They couldn't discuss it further with me because I wasn't "their" customer, my ISP was, and data protection - blah, blah, blah...

So I binned them (after 23 years as a customer) and switched to NTL 10 meg - very happy I did too  ;D

Had a couple of problems with noise on the line (broadband not affected) since and they've sent real engineers out both times, even when the computer said there was no fault. The second time he decided to change the entire cable from the house to the street. Sorted!

pistonbroke NTL seem pretty efficient, may consider them soon, my line went completely dead for days recently, apparently a problem with the exchange! my system is with aol and slows up regularlyam i being cynical in thinking this may be connected to the fact that i am offered an upgrade from gold to platinum everytime this happens??

I know loads of people who are happy with NTL (like I am) and loads of people who hate them. None of these big companies really care - it's just about selling stuff at the end of the day (a bit like cars then).

You pays your money and...
