Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by TiberiuS on Jan 11th, 2007, 6:43pm Blimey, mine must be an elite too, it's got the cosworth alloys and the quote 'mahogany veneer' (aka moulded plastic ;)) ;D, it also rides at exactly the same height as mine...I think if it's true, they made a few more than 100 ;). And twin kickdown, what's this when it's at home? Kickdown is kickdown surely? single kickdown is enough to blow the cyl head, I dread to think what double would do... Pumice leather is nice though... Regards, bruce. |

Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by Highlander on Jan 11th, 2007, 8:30pm Never heard of an Elite, maybe we can get a VIN number from him to check it ;) Doesnt look any lowered than anyone elses 12 spokes aren't Cosworth alloys, they were an option for any model Enhanced performace?? maybe one of these resistor thingys from ebay?? :) Double kickdown sounds like a gearbox problem to me! ;D maybe its just ANOTHER of these ebay sellers with a bit of poetic license ;) |

Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by Waglet on Jan 11th, 2007, 8:50pm Sounds dodgy to me, and at 1500 quid hardly a bargain is it? Previously registered overseas no mileage stated and scuffed up!!. Nah |

Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by Highlander on Jan 11th, 2007, 10:46pm Who me?? ;D There was a Cosworth Ultima listed on ebay a while back as a rare "Special Edition" model, i asked the guy about it and he told me it was "Special Edition" because it had : Full leather Cruise Control Alloy wheels Climate control CD changer Auto dimming rear view mirror Sports mode autobox with Overdrive And..... the very rare Special Edition 24v Cosworth engine!! Dont think he was impressed when I told him it was a bog standard 24v Ultima ;D |
||
Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by TiberiuS on Jan 11th, 2007, 11:04pm Yeah, but it didn't have the limited edition DOUBLE KICKDOWN I bet ;) All the fun of being kicked down, but double }{ Regards, Bruce ;) |
||
Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by jonnycab on Jan 12th, 2007, 12:06am Lowered as well ??? Looks about the right height to me..... .....unless, being an 'Elite', it used to be the very rare 'Sit up & beg' Scorp :D Enhanced performance.........now that sounds like it could be the even rarer 'Scorpio Viagra'.. ;D Notice that it doesn't say how many miles it's done......but hey....who cares about a little thing like that when you could be the proud owner of a 'sit up & beg (but lowered) Scorpio Viagra Elite Ultima' }{ }{ |

Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by Tony_Bradley on Jan 12th, 2007, 12:15am Perhaps the Double Kickdown is the "E" or "S" selection on the gearbox and then the foot operated one ! |
||
Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by jonnycab on Jan 12th, 2007, 12:32am Another thing I've just noticed..... ....those seats are so shiney, I bet you could see your face in them.....they look as though they've been waxed.......could be problem when braking hard or going 'round corners....especially if your sitting in the back ;D |

Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by LiverpaulH on Jan 12th, 2007, 12:53pm Already asked the following tongue in cheek question: I don't recall ford selling any special edition scorpios, was this a dealer special? What performance enhancements has the "elite" over the standard scorpio? Also what is the mileage? Thanks And got the following reply! "i was told that they tried out a chip on 100 of them i could not understand why it was so fast thats all i know the mileage is 160000 but that is because i drive from london to blackpool twice a month i also change the oil and service the car every 6000 miles it drives fantastic you are welcome to try before you buy thanks dell" So its been chipped ::)? Hmmmmm. And the starting bid is £1500 for a 2.3 thats done 160,000, he'd be lucky if he reached that figure with a bidding frenzy of numpty's. Highly amusing if you ask me. And no the questions unsurprisingly aren't public! Paul ;D |

Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by macroy on Jan 12th, 2007, 6:43pm I asked about the colour and the double kickdown and this is the reply that I got....... car is metallic green double kickdown works by putting foot down it drops a gear then putting foot all way down it drops another gear and then hang on thanks....Can anybody work it out? ???Roy |

Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by TRACEYS_LIMO on Jan 12th, 2007, 6:54pm on motorcycles if new models did not sell on the first batch they were all rebadged as LTD editions |

Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by Penguin on Jan 12th, 2007, 9:24pm By that logic mine's not just an elite, it's a... wait for it... ;D ELITE TOURER ;D And besides mine does have double kickdown - you can kick it down once it's gone back to fourth... ...you can kick it down again! ;D Cheers Penguin |

So do most autos, all depends on road speed. My Scorp would drop from 3rd to 1st at 30-40mph if I buried my foot in the carpet, most people don't drive like that on a daily basis though ;). An auto will drop as many gears as road speed allows, unless you change the gearing (like add more), shift pattern etc you can't make it behave any different. At least mine's an unashamed bog standard 2.3 Ultima, even if *cough* certain *cough* members north of the borders did joke about my true reference to Cosworth redesigning the 2.3... I don't normally post questions straight onto the listing, mabye I should??? Regards, Bruce :) |

Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by jonnycab on Jan 13th, 2007, 9:13pm Here's the reply I got, & I will type it as it was written...... "I took the car to fords had some work done mechanic there told me it was an elite it is much faster than normal 2300 it has the ability to kick down twice by putting your foot down then putting your foot all the way down it takes off again thanks"....... ??? No bids as yet I see |

Title: Re: scorpio elite Post by Baz on Jan 13th, 2007, 11:40pm The only special edition Scorpios were sold in Europe and not in the UK we had: Holland: Scorpio RS; which was a standard car but with the Recaro seat pack, Wood steering wheel, rear parking sensors and seven spoke alloys (in either chrome or standard finish) There was no mention of engine sizes in the brochure Germany: Scorpio "Style" Available in 8 colours: Had a one off special dash and trim which was a black/grey marble effect rather than wood. Special cloth trim or standard black leather. All engine sizes available including the diesel. Holland: Scorpio "Platinum" Basically the same as the Scorpio "Style" from Germany. Marble effect, black/grey dash and trim, special fabric seats but only available in Curiass (or the lighter one!) and only available with the 2.9 12v engine. I have the brochures too if anyone wants a scan of them! |
