can any one else remember the new scorpio design that was going to replace the outgoing one after the july 98 end of the production line?.
i can vaguely remember seeing a pic of one in a motoring magazine, the only difference was the removal of the bug eye headlights and replacement with twin headlights each side, am i alone in remembering this or is it my old brain playing tricks?. i think maybe it was for the american market but i,m not sure, i seem to remember the no. ford 500, can any one help me with this one?

I saw a film (American) about 3 or 4 years ago (can't remember what it was)...but there was a car in it, parked on the road, that was a Scorpio with the Granada front.......no I wasn't on drugs {}
I remember saying to my wife..."That's a Scorpio but the front end is a Granada"....& she agreed.........& no, she wasn't on drugs either {}....

We may have been a little tipsy though ;)

ive seen a car like that in americas worst criminals lol, i believe it was a pontiac or simmliar though

The older Ford Taurus and Mustangs had a similar front end to the Granada. The Scorpio never made it this side of the pond. The only thing close to the scorp is a car name Merkur which is basically a Granada with different front bumper and headlights and a reflective strip across the back. Although they are considered rare over here. I've only seen 1 in the two and a half years of being here!

It was called the Merkur ( German for Mercury ) Scorpio, it was just the European Granada Scorpio branded for the US market ( there's a picture in this months Classic American Mag ).

Needless to say it bombed, with only a few thousand sold .
