That's a total piss take of a price.... ???

....You'd have be some kind of super nutty Scorp enthusiast to pay that kind of cash  ::)

....If it were a classic Bentley steering wheel....then maybe you might want to stretch to that kind of price....but a Scorp ?  ???

....& the postage  :o

I bought a three spoked, original steering wheel for a MK1 Granada/Consul GT for £20 off Ebay last year, with £8.00 postage, & I think that they are a little rarer than what Mr Saville is selling  ::)

I bought an alternator from him a couple of months back, & on meeting him, he seemed like a genuinely nice, down to earth bloke, trying to make an honest living from flogging second hand Scorp parts. So I can't see why he thinks he can get that sort of price  :-/

Oh well...each to their own  ;)

P.S....Bruce, that Jag interior looks lovely. If the exterior & the mechanics are as good, then I think you've got a stunning car for the price  ;)

I see he's also selling rear bumpers for £165  ???

I've just found a small Ford breakers, not a mile from were I live, who has a few & is selling them for £50 each.

Also, Mr Saville is selling a set of front & back Recaro seats with the same steering wheel for £350......

I think maybe the steering wheel advert is a mistake...& it is £350 for the Recaro seats & steering wheel. That would make more sense  ;)

Ah...gotta love ebay :)

Theres another well know seller of "cosworth" items based in the channel Islands who does regular trips to the ebay section of the FSOC forum for people to laugh at his creative pricing structure.

One member once wrote to him suggesting that £45 was a little high for a "cosworth" lighting column switch   (eg: identical to every other model in the sierra range) and the reply he got probably contained the most expletives and personal insults ive ever seen crammed into a single sentance.

Im sure these as the same people who attend Ford Fair in the parts area and want £95 for an ashtray....  ::)

With prices like that, I wonder what the guy is on!!

Where in God's name do these idiot Ebayers dream up these ridiculous 'postage' prices.

We can all go onto the Royal Mail/Courier websites these days, and see what it costs.

Who's kidding who?

Personally I wouldn't buy from him on principle.  ;)

Bruce, the interior of your car is stunning............I want one!!  ;D

Actually, the wood effect in the Scorp has advantages - doesn't fade or crack...I'm lucky with the trim on mine, it's been kept under cover. But the burr walnut on the old V12 was cracked to hell around the shifter and radio. Ironic thing is that the extras on the Jag are probably worth more than the car (maybe I'm going over the top but you get the point ::)), same with the Scorpio I guess - a good set of 12 spokes and working keyfob on a MOT failure fetch more on the Bay than the car itself...

Tali, no offence mate but I still think Steve Savill is on another planet, it's not about slagging someone off just that he asks really stupid money for things. Nice sig pic though, anyone I know? ;)

Regards, Bruce :)

It is pretty impressive that he has a) the balls to put it on at that price and b) the balls to then suggest its a joke, I've never been impressed by the bloke myself.

Paul

Edited to sort out my spelling.

Title: Re: Wooden Steering wheel...
Post by mazzy_j on Mar 6th, 2007, 10:12am
i somehow don't think he is joking, i made an offer of 70 for it, seeing as he's 2mins from work and my steering wheel has seen much much better days... i had been going to offer 20p but thought that may not be near what he deludedly wants for it  ;)

Listing it at that price would have cost him a few £ merely to have a joke to himself.

tali, looks like we'll all have to ask you to buy our parts then  }{  ;D

well he knew i was talking about the steering wheel before i said it when i mentioned everyone was slating him, he just wet himself laughing saying it had the desired effect. the cost of listing it would've been around a quid, less if he did it on one of ebays 1p listing days. he also laughed about some recaro seats? i havent looked them up.
craig, tbh if you listed the same as a joke and some muppet offered the money you wouldnt take it?

hi there

i think we'll need to leave at that. this is how the guy earns a living; it's up to him to set his prices.

i think most of us feel if he set them a bit lower, he'd get more sales from members here.

it's a shame really as he has a good collection of parts, but as i've said, it's up to him. :-/

No worries Craig... gets us all. I am not even going to comment on the £125.00 price tag he has on the facelift centre light bar... If he sells it at that I've got a few he can have at a ton each!

or maybe the £125.00 is a laugh too??@

Title: Re: Wooden Steering wheel...
Post by jonnycab on Mar 8th, 2007, 4:00am
Yea, no worries Craig...you didn't offend me, & I doubt you offended Steve Saville either.

Everytime he is mentioned, more people will remember his name & know that he sells second hand Scorp parts....so as a result, he is probably the best known seller of second hand Scorp parts in the country.....

He doesn't need to advertise his name, as members on this site do it for him when they post about some of his, shall we say, extravagant prices on Ebay  ::)

Maybe he does do it purely because he knows it will be talked about on here & as a result will bring in more business.......

.......The old saying....."all publicity is good publicity",..... whether good or bad, will always get you known to the public  ;)

As I said earlier in this post, I found Steve Saville to be a seemingly good, down to earth bloke. Maybe on Ebay some people may pay the price he's asking, plus the postage, but if you can get down to his lock-up in person, then I think you may get a better deal  :)

I think maybe, the admin on this site could come to some sort of arrangement with Steve Saville ?

Possibly, he could advertise his company on here & members of the site would be entitled to a % discount on what he is selling  ;).....

....obviously, all spares would have to be reasonably priced, but I think his turnover would double within a few months if members started to take advantage of a % discount agreement  :)

Lets face it, this is a rapidly growing site, with more members joining every day, who have more problems than ever, & a reliable supplier of secondhand parts that can be endorsed by the site is needed....

So, Admin.....it's worth a considering  ;)

hi jc

we already have this arrangement. see this (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=admin3;action=display;num=1105491424).

this was brought in because some members were just on the forum to trade and not to contribute any help to other members without payment. when this was pointed out to the various members and they were asked to help fund the site, they refused and were asked to leave. as pointed out in early posts, there is a ready made market for parts here, but it needs to be a two way street.

i'm going to lock this thread as i feel it's ran it coarse.
