Title: Re: 2l petrol 45-50 mpg Post by mr._floppy on Mar 10th, 2007, 10:40am I've seen my 2Lt 16V as high as a 32mpg average on the trip computer, only on the motorway at 60mph unfortunately. |

Title: Re: 2l petrol 45-50 mpg Post by Simmo on Mar 10th, 2007, 11:51am My 2lr 16v returns an average of 28/29 in day to day running and will go up to the low 30's on a long run. I think anything claimed in excess of that is fantasy.( unless it's on 'Baz Fuel'! ;) ) |

Title: Re: 2l petrol 45-50 mpg Post by Kjetil S on Mar 10th, 2007, 2:35pm I've managed around 35mpg with mine on a long run. Could probably do 37 or 38 if I filled my right shoe with helium, but nowhere near 45-50mpg. |

Title: Re: 2l petrol 45-50 mpg Post by TiberiuS on Mar 10th, 2007, 7:45pm Sorry all, he forgot to mention it's only running on 2 cylinders ;) ;D ::) You've got a 1500kg car running probably on an autobox, you can't expect 40mpg out of it...I drive the Mondeo lightly (honest, officer ;)) and even then I only manage low 30's mpg...on a manual 1.8 which weighs less than 1200kg. Expectng more than this out of a 2 litre luxury car is optimistic :) Perhaps he's even being honest about what the computer says, mine used to say I was getting 28 on the motorway but I was getting 25 at best in reality, normally averaged around 23 if there was traffic. Regards, Bruce :). |

Title: Re: 2l petrol 45-50 mpg Post by jonnycab on Mar 11th, 2007, 11:10pm Found it !....item number was wrong....kept getting an amber AA roof light... ::)....250092820166 ;) Anyway, what a load of old balderdash ??? I used to own a 2.0 manual a few years back, & was getting nowhere near that kind of MPG. In fact, I reckon my 2.3 Auto is better on fuel (power to weight ratio ?) than my old 2.0 was. My average mpg usually hovers around the 23 mpg mark, & that is with alot of short journeys & stop/start motoring. I don't usually do alot of priced airport work (I like to work on the meter), but this morning I took a friend to Heathrow (M25 is lovely at 5.00am on a Sunday morning ;)). I reset the trip meter when I left home. Was cruising at between 70-80 mph most of the way. It was a 160 mile round trip. When I got home & checked the trip it read 30.5 mpg......not bad ;)....but nowhere near what this seller says. He's probably watched the trip in real time & seen it hit 50mpg...which is quite bad....mine hits 99.9 mpg, foot off & downhill :) |

Title: Re: 2l petrol 45-50 mpg Post by mr._floppy on Mar 12th, 2007, 10:32am I wonder how economical a LPG Scorp is compared to a petrol one. Has anyone got one ? ??? |

Title: Re: 2l petrol 45-50 mpg Post by Kjetil S on Mar 12th, 2007, 12:45pm I think maybe Baz has one, but I'm not sure ::) |

Title: Re: 2l petrol 45-50 mpg Post by scorpio_man on Mar 12th, 2007, 12:50pm hi there mine's about 19mpg around town (same as it was on petrol). lpg costs about 40-43 pence per litre, petrol 85 p/p/l. on the run to the keswick meet, i got 27.8 mpg (lpg 47p/p/l). again same as on petrol. hth btw, these figures haven't changed in 4 1/2 years of ownership. |

Title: Re: 2l petrol 45-50 mpg Post by petehull on Mar 12th, 2007, 1:00pm Mine works out at about the same as petrol although it seems to be more responsive and runs smoothly, I have a 90 litre tank although you can only use so much of that due to the way the system works, (havn't fully worked it out yet) However the saving is in the price of the gas, I pay 39p from our morrisons, it costs about £18.00 to fill up and that lasts me about a fortnight. I used to be putting £45+ in every 10 days or so before the conversion. next time I fill up I'll reset the comp and check out the true miles against the litres and see what it gives. :) Pete |
