well it was in 2000 when i used my bike constantly so my body was more used to it than it is now, also i was riding in a group which tends to take your mind away from the aches. with motorbikes i tend to find my knees ache and lock up, depends on the model though.

its interesting that you got back ache, i've suffered disc trouble on and off since i was 20, my old car, pug 205 diesel was old but immaculate and mechanically sound, cost b****r all to run, but was sooooooooo basic, when i visited friends in manchester i felt like i'd done a 12 hour shift of hard labour. this was one reason i bought the scorp, i've been to manc and back in a weekend and when i got home i felt totally fine, no lower back aches etc.
have you tried adjusting the lumbar support? i've found that piece of kit an absolute godsend......

I've done 870 miles in a day with my Scorpio.  Didn't miss a single beat. Don't think I could've done it in a standard eurobox.

Most I ever did in one hit none stop was about 300 miles on a CBR1000.
I was somewhat younger and fitter and didn't have too many aches at the end.
Now that my discs are degenerating that is not likely to happen again :'(
And yes there were tears when the bike sold and I watched the new owner riding away on it >:(
But my back condition was what caused me to find my way into the world of the scorp :D
So lets just some up, I had to get rid of a 100% reliable, fast, comfortable and cheap(ish) to run motorcycle and now I run a scorp :-/ hmmm.
You decide :)

922 miles in a day (20 hrs actually).

Departed Newbury at 0400 was in Newcastle at 0810, stopped for breakfast at Jedburgh and was in Bridge of Earn by 1300.

The intention was to stay there overnight as I thought it was going to take longer than it did, but as I had picked up what I went for I thought I would make a move back.

Started off back about 1400, had a 30 min snooze at the services just South of Glasgow and decided to stop off overnight further South if I felt really broken.

A short hop from the M6 to Blackpool for a chinese at 2000 and then its only 110 miles to Birmingham and another 100 or so back home so I kept going.

Lovely trip in the middle of summer last year but feeling the distance getting nearer home. Sunroof open and in the company of the professional trunkers on the motorways in the morning and at night made it an exjoyable experience.

Car never missed a beat, and as it was nearly all motorway driving at 70 mph a repectable mpg as well.

Do it again ? I don't think so, it was a one off experience that would never be the same again.

Now if you are talking bikes, I had several years being sponsored by Yamaha and we used to bash down from St Malo to Pau every June in a truck - 450 miles stopping for fuel and toilets only. 10 hrs was the norm.

I did it later on my trusty BMW and it was a good deal less comfortable than the trucks we used before. No difference in the time but as we approached Bordeaux I was sitting on the tank to give my cheeks something softer to sit on than the seat ! :o

I drove from Dresden to Boulogne without a break one day on our way back from holidaying in Berlin, think we set off around 0600 and arrived at the ferry with about 10 mins to sailing at about 12.45, that WAS a day of panic,,, when we reached blitey we found a supermarket somewhere near canterbury and slept in the carpark, on waking up  :o there were people milling around doing their shopping, needless to say it was a quick visit to the loo and away we went again reaching home at about 19.30.  :-/ ??? 8)

by the way, that was with my 1991 2ltr Granny. NO AIRCON and mafting heat... :(

I drove from Solingen in Germany to Bucharest in Romania almost continuously. I just took a 1 and a half hour nap in a parking lot in Hungary. It was a trip of about 1100 miles if i remember correctly. The only down side was that i drove a TDDI Focus Turnier having only 75 horse power ....it was a real pig....when i was overtaking i had to turn of the AC. Regarding all of that it still managed to reach about 110 mph. The cherry on top was the average mpg which was about 50 mpg

My 2 ltr Scorp did the Sudbury, Suffolk to Bucharest via Berlin without a hitch and much more comfortable than anything else I've driven. OK so the 2,000+ miles was over 3 days and we cheated a little on the bit between Dover and Dunkerque :)

I drove from Los Angeles to Las Vegas (Lost Wages) donkeys years ago. Took forever and was so boring I nodded off and found my self driving down the embankment into the desert! Good wake up call. Think the car was a Dodge Intrepid. ;D

Hi Octavian, hope you're OK. Yesterday I spent a few hours trying to locate the leak to earth without any luck and I ended up rewiring (well bodging would be a more accurate term) the headlights and they now work a treat. The leak appeared to be in the neutral to the actual housing for both dipped beam bulbs. I could not find exactly where though.

I ended up taking the power and neutral from the side light below it in parallel and upped the corresponding fuse. Now my headlights come on when I switch on the lights to the side lights position and of course in the 2nd headlamp position too.

I have no doubt this is probably an MOT failure and probably highly dangerous, though I can't see why but I await the howls of "Oh no, you can't do that!!" from you or other more knowledgeable forum members :)

The year that Diana died we were in the south of France at the same time as her and Dodi (different hotels though as I recall!!)

We drove from Argeles sur mer to Warrington in one go... about 1100 miles but that was in a loaded up mundano estate!!
