Finally got around putting on my new alloys. Tyres are Vredestein Sportrac 225 45R17

225/45R17 actually

Did some testing tonight, and the car feels a lot better to drive compared to the previous 195/65R15 (Goodyear). It may be a bit more bumpy on uneven roads (but not enough to trouble me), but oddly enough, it seems less prone to follow road grooves.

All in all, I'm satisfied with the choice.

I'm not one for aftermarket rims but I've gotta say they really suit it 8)

i like those, interesting what you say about the ride, i've just bought some 16 inch 12 spokes from v max and was wondering how different the ride will be compared to the standard 15 inch balloons......

Nice, although those square ended spokes where they meet the rim look like they will damage easily on kerbs.

I would keep a minimum of 3 feet from the pavement at all times just in case, and don't let the Wife drive it :o

hi there

is that Vredestein Sportrac2 tyres? i've got them on the front of my car. Kumho KU31's on the rear. both are really good tyres; quiet, grippy and long lasting.

They are 'slightly' more shiny than the 15" steel rims with aftermarket hubcaps ;D

I checked my bill, and I remembered wrong, actually.

According to my bill, they're
VREDESTEIN 225/45 ZR17 TL 94W VRED ULTRAC RFD

I don't know how long lasting they are yet, but the grip and noise level is superb (atleast in the dry. There hasn't been any rain since I put them on). Not TOO expensive either.

yep, looked at them at the time, but i don't think i could get the 16" size in them.

at the time, ST2 had jumped up by £25 a tyre. :o this was at the time when i had the alloys refur'd, so no money left! still the kumho's are proving to be excellent replacements. :) think i paid £65 (each) fitted for them.

kjetil...do u think they would look better than the standard lenses..............if so i might get a set if i actuallly knew where to get them lol :-/

Have them on mine and they look much better especially on dark cars. Would recommend and only £17 ish.

Do a search on ebay for 'scorpio repeater' or something like that. If that doesn't work, you could search on mondeo or escort too, as the side repeaters are identical on the '96-'00 Mondeo and the '95-'01 Escort.

Okay, there is one problem with the tyres. I can't make my wheels spin any more.

My old "balloon"-tyres (205/60R15) were easy to kick out when I wanted to, and just as easy to get back in line again when the fun was over ;D.
With the new low profile ones, the car just seems stuck to the road. No wheel spin, no back end kicking out when I push it. Nothing.

fitted the new repeaters today kjetil,u were right they look much better tahn them orange blops sitting on the front wing ;D
