Title: Finally some new alloys! Post by Kjetil S on Mar 25th, 2007, 2:27pm Finally got around putting on my new alloys. Tyres are Vredestein Sportrac 225 45R17 http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f41/kskjon/scorpio/_IGP1284.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f41/kskjon/scorpio/_IGP1287.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f41/kskjon/scorpio/_IGP1286.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f41/kskjon/scorpio/_IGP1285.jpg Looks rather nice imho ;D |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by scorpio_man on Mar 25th, 2007, 3:55pm hi there what size are they? |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by Ultima2300 on Mar 25th, 2007, 4:01pm That's a sharp looking set of wheels ;) Nice car too! Best wishes Geoff |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by Dave on Mar 25th, 2007, 4:03pm Whoa! Very nice choice 8) |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by Matt on Mar 25th, 2007, 5:16pm id say at least 18's judging but the side of the wheel to the brake disk |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by Kjetil S on Mar 25th, 2007, 5:39pm Thanks, they're 17" ;D 225/45R17 actually Did some testing tonight, and the car feels a lot better to drive compared to the previous 195/65R15 (Goodyear). It may be a bit more bumpy on uneven roads (but not enough to trouble me), but oddly enough, it seems less prone to follow road grooves. All in all, I'm satisfied with the choice. |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by TiberiuS on Mar 25th, 2007, 6:03pm I'm not one for aftermarket rims but I've gotta say they really suit it 8) |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by TRACEYS_LIMO on Mar 25th, 2007, 7:58pm nice wheels :D the house looks nice too :P |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by taliban on Mar 25th, 2007, 11:28pm i like those, interesting what you say about the ride, i've just bought some 16 inch 12 spokes from v max and was wondering how different the ride will be compared to the standard 15 inch balloons...... |
||||
Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by mr._floppy on Mar 25th, 2007, 11:41pm Nice, although those square ended spokes where they meet the rim look like they will damage easily on kerbs. I would keep a minimum of 3 feet from the pavement at all times just in case, and don't let the Wife drive it :o |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by scorpio_man on Mar 26th, 2007, 9:00am hi there is that Vredestein Sportrac2 tyres? i've got them on the front of my car. Kumho KU31's on the rear. both are really good tyres; quiet, grippy and long lasting. |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by fordnut on Mar 26th, 2007, 9:19am the new alloys look great 8) |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by Kjetil S on Mar 26th, 2007, 11:23am Thanks all! They are 'slightly' more shiny than the 15" steel rims with aftermarket hubcaps ;D on 03/25/07 at 23:41:00, mr._floppy wrote:

I checked my bill, and I remembered wrong, actually. According to my bill, they're VREDESTEIN 225/45 ZR17 TL 94W VRED ULTRAC RFD I don't know how long lasting they are yet, but the grip and noise level is superb (atleast in the dry. There hasn't been any rain since I put them on). Not TOO expensive either. |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by scorpio_man on Mar 26th, 2007, 11:45am hi there yep, looked at them at the time, but i don't think i could get the 16" size in them. at the time, ST2 had jumped up by £25 a tyre. :o this was at the time when i had the alloys refur'd, so no money left! still the kumho's are proving to be excellent replacements. :) think i paid £65 (each) fitted for them. |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by cossieguy on Mar 28th, 2007, 12:19pm Have them on mine and they look much better especially on dark cars. Would recommend and only £17 ish. |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by Kjetil S on Mar 28th, 2007, 3:54pm Do a search on ebay for 'scorpio repeater' or something like that. If that doesn't work, you could search on mondeo or escort too, as the side repeaters are identical on the '96-'00 Mondeo and the '95-'01 Escort. |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by RichardMS on Mar 28th, 2007, 6:16pm You can got them in Motorworld for less than £10 inc bulbs. |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by Kjetil S on Mar 30th, 2007, 6:29pm Okay, there is one problem with the tyres. I can't make my wheels spin any more. My old "balloon"-tyres (205/60R15) were easy to kick out when I wanted to, and just as easy to get back in line again when the fun was over ;D. With the new low profile ones, the car just seems stuck to the road. No wheel spin, no back end kicking out when I push it. Nothing. Edit: typo |

Title: Re: Finally some new alloys! Post by TiberiuS on Mar 30th, 2007, 7:57pm LOL ;D Some price to pay for luvvvverly wheels ::) ;D ;) |
